because of my email address and this is the reason they give at first i thought it was because of my silly user name and maybe not being olde enough they really are grey folks on there. so this is an explaination of why, from the togs themselves.
We've had some real problems recently with 'trolls' and those who are keen to provide us with website addresses for forthright ladies without a stitch to their name, so we've had to implement a policy of no 'free' e-mail accounts used for new registrations. Sorry for the inconvenience but you'll need an ISP or fixed domain e-mail to register (the one provided by your Internet company).
Sorry for the inconvenience.
*added by pZ For those who are totally untechnical this means that the email adress you apply with will be the same as the one the company you pay your internet bill to gave you.
Examples as follows
If you are with NTL then your email will be "your.name"@ntlworld.com (without the " marks)
If you are with BTinternet then it will end as @btinternet.com
If its blueyonder then it will be @blueyonder.com. I am sure that you get the idea Please do not try to register with one of the many web based free email addresses as this will not be accepted _________________

I know many people are reluctant to use "proper"/ISP email addresses for forums etc because of the dangers of information and identity details getting into unauthorised or "wrong" hands - the recent fallout from the jezzasexiles site illustrates this, with knobs on.
Equally, I take it that it's easier for trolls and troublemakers to operate with impunity from free addresses so I can understand that it may be of benefit to the members to have a policy which restricts these.
I am registered on Togs, but it's like another language, or planet even, and haven't found a topic, or breathing space, to jump in and break my duck yet. _________________ Ron |

How would they know how old you are? age has nothing to do with it. I thought the message explains everything perfectly, it is the standard message that everyone gets when they try to register with a yahoo, gmail, msn, etc email address, they are not allowed, simple.
The TOGs site has had massive problems with trolls in the past which is why this new rule was introduced.
Anyway you are not missing much, most of what is posted over there is rubbish. |

There are lots of sites that won't take webmail addresses. My O/H looks at a lot of hobby boards and he has said most of them disallow them so it's nothing new Tube.
Can you not use the one that your internet provider gives?

There's been something of a stigma regarding people who use Hotmail and Webtv and the like for several years now, especially on Usenet, so it's nothing new. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
