I think bringing something like a Paul O' Grady show to the Radio, and Radio 2 would be very entertaining? Just one idea?
Anyone else got some positive ideas?

Re-instate Stuart Maconie's The Critical List in it's original form, perhaps making it two hours.
Bring forward Bob Harris' show.
What about re-instating Sounds Of The 70s. And give it the same two hours that SOT 60s gets. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack.

How about bringing in-concert back, even concerts from the past, or maybe a classic albums show expanding on the type of thing Stuart Marconi does.
But NO MORE CELEBRITIES who no nothing about music ! |

I'd agree no more comedians. The In Concert idea sounds good as does the Critical List but maybe the latter had run its course?

Maybe something like 6Music's Dream Ticket, featuring a mix of the best of old and new concerts.
Or just give Allinson 2 hours in the afternoon and move everything back like it used to be. |

Can I copyright a radio version of Hole In The Wall with Dale Winton?
Seriously though, a hour of Sounds of the 70's & bringing Bob Harris back to 10pm would fill the hole - without resort to Dale. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Allinson Albums would be a good show for Radio 2 on Saturday evenings. |

What is "edgy", BTW, about phoning up elderly people & telling them you've slept with their grand daughter?
What is funny about it?
People sleep with peoples grand daughters & grandsons every day. They usually do not feel the need to leave phone messages on the answerphone of said grandparent
It is infantile & pathetic, not "edgy" and not "comedy" |

Have to agree with the reinstatement of "The Critical List". Can't remember how many artists I was encouraged to listen to after hearing Stuart week in, week out - almost (okay, well not almost!) as many as listening to Bob! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

The Dream Ticket sounds a good idea, something a bit different. That or Alinson's Albums, in a similar format. It could include elements of Critical List/In Concert, and would be great on Saturday nights especially after Suzi Q.
Sounds of the 70s still needs bringing back into the schedules somewhere, as does Masters of Rock and All Singing all Dancing All night! |

How about Steve Lamacq, I enjoy his show on R2 and he plays some good and unusual stuff,
or maybe Guy Garvey, he comes across as a genuine guy and knows something about music, he can even write and play some good tunes, the documentary on Alleluia was good last night. ? |

'Lammo' is a good DJ, I listen to his 6 music show in the afternoon. Guy Garvey's finest hour is also very popular on sunday evenings over on 6 music. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Okay, if Radio 2 management decides not to replace Russell Brand with another comic presenter, then I have a few recommendations for the 9.00 - 11.00pm slot:
* Dance Anthems. The show could easily be moved from 6 Music. The show is totally different now, as it plays dance music from the last 30 years.
* Norman Jay's Giant 45 could be revived. This show used to be broadcast on BBC London, Sundays 6.00 - 8.00pm, until it was axed by management earlier this year. Norman played a mix of soul, funk, r n b, reggae, classic disco, classic house, blues and northern soul.
* Stuart Maconie's Freeak Zone.
* Radio 2 Rock Show with Bruce Dickinson, playing new and classic rock and indie. |

How about Lauren Laverne? Just dropping another talented broadcaster's name into the bucket. |

Mark Lucas-Re your earlier post at 1.39pm today, by a strange coincidence a banned former poster on this message board called Scott Nelson used to go on about Norman Jay. |

Aren't you being a touch oversenstive there Mark Lucas.
I was simply pointing out that this Norman Jay seems to be a quite popular chap. Is he any good? |

All this fuss just because I mentioned Norman Jay's former BBC London show.
Norman Jay is a regular on Radio 2 anyway, so why not make better use of him? |

Looks as though this week will be the last for Alex Lester on the 9-11pm slot.
What a shame. I thought he was doing a great job in this slot. |

I was going to say Simon Mayo? I don't think he will travel that far for a two hour show? Someone from 6 Music? |
