Dunno. I really like 5 Live, but no idea what he thinks about music.
I expect the rumours about Simon Mayo to start again in about 10 minutes (when Iain Smith starts a thread about this). |

Not heard of him, but let's give him a go. This week it'll all be about how the photocopier works, where the coffee machines are, and getting used to that awful lift.
I'll need to know lots about him if he's going to feature in any future stories. Is he a robot or does he flinch when you poke him in the tummy?
yay! for Bob. |

Dear Mr Shennan,
Please get rid of Ross.
Thank you. _________________ MiS |

Just had a little scout for articles on him and found this comment from the Guardian two years ago:
'He's been accused of taking his station downmarket, hiring overpaid and overblown presenters and neglecting foreign news, but Five Live's controller isn't going to let that get to him'
http://www.jamessilver.net/articles/bob-shennan-the-guardian.asp
Sound familiar? Oh dear. But let's give him a chance.
Apparently he was also connected with the never-quite-existed Channel 4 Radio which was rumoured to steal O'Leary, Brand etc from R2. Unfortunately, I think we will have to expect the continuation of television-schooled paratroopers rampaging through the daytime schedules. But, you never know...
At least he'll probably want to keep Ross (hides from the boos).

Also Steve Wright & Chris Evans, plus can you do a fairly clean sweep of 6 music, particularly at the weekends, it's worth remembering that BBC 7 is the comedy station, so that's where the comedians should be, not playing at being DJs on 6 music! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Looks like Simon Mayo could be on the pay role full time in the near future. |

Helen,
He doesn't have a free hand, the BBC Trust won't allow him to radically change Radio 2, it's meant to be an over-35s station with a lot of specialist programming and that's how it will stay.
I guess it will stay as it is with the same cover jocks etc. I can't see Wogan going anytime soon as he will go when he's ready. Some people reckon Ken will move to Breakfast on other forums which is ridiculous, as he lives in Oxford and a little far for him. Lesley changed around Sundays, night times and removed a few programmes. I can't see him assassinating the station...... YET!!!!!!!!!! |

The Evans rumours will start shortly afterwards, as on MediaGuardian. The general feeling on there is 'safe pair of hands', but I agree, what are his music credentials?!? (another Boss lover...? ) |

Wogan will leave when he's ready. I can't see anyone pushing him out the door. Also it would be a shame if someone tries to push Ken out the door. |

i havent commented on Bob Shennans appointment before ow because theres not much to say really-he's described as a safe pair of hands. stand by for several more years of the same old line up then.Theres going to be one hell of an exodus of presenetrs from 5 live when they move to Salford in 2 years time though so I guess the temptation for Shennan to hire one or 2 of them will be too much to resist |

Is that a new rule they've made up? I ask because, if it isn't, why didn't they tell/stop Lesley Douglas in time?! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

No I think it's one that Mark's made up . I really don't think the BBC Trust have any say in who presents what on Radio 2.................

Yes, all live music should be pre-recorded... it's the way of the future! |

Alas, I fear you may be right there Aitch, but It would be nice if Captain Bob behaved as if that were the rule, especially after the disaster that Lesley Douglas' reign turned out to be (IMHO of course) _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

IT WILL BEINTERESTING TO SEE IF SIMON MAYO starts doing more work filling in for radio 2 DJs ,esp Ken Bruce, now that his old boss has taken over.If so it will inevitably lead to speculation that Mayo is limed up for Bruces slot in 2011 after all. |
