Not sure about there appointment at these times, Zoe is 6-8am, a neither breakfast or early, would SOTS be better from 9am to give Zoe a chance of capturing the Saturday breakfast audience. Then start JR from 11am.
Emma's show seems a non go personally spaeaking, GMS is supposed to be Sunady breakfast, I know people work shifts and nights, so i guess it will start Sunday earlier, but its not breakfast. |

It is for me! I have my breakfast while listening to Radio 4's comedy at noon! |

Would that be the Gypsy trailer he's in charge of, Mark? _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

Can't say I enjoyed Zoe Ball's first show. All a bit too Radio One. Can't she slow down her presentation a bit ? I know Mo Dutta wasn't perfect ( and he had a good run) but I'll miss his interesting chats with travel man Simon Calder especially. |

Me too. Although I like Zoe (I think she has a nice bubbly style), on the rare occasions that I was up at such an unearthly hour (either working or driving very early) I also enjoyed Mo's chats with Simon Calder. _________________ (signature and avatar removed, violated forum Rule 2.) |

And the weather man, which he did some weeks. I'll have a 'listen again' to Zoe's new show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I'm afraid Ms. Ball represents another click away from Radio 2 for me..
I didn't like her in the early days as a "Ladet" and her stint on Strictly Come Dancing did nothing to alter my opinion. All those tears! yuk!
Now, she has the same effect on me as Jonathon Ross and that is to switch over to Gold, Planet Rock or Internet radio..
Too excitable, too fast and patronising. Not for me... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

The topic is Zoe and Emma but from what Ms Ball was saying this morning it should be Zoe and Ricky ! Seems she has to have newsreader Ricky Salmon to drive the desk. What has she been doing when sitting in for Ken Bruce then ? Would it not have been to much to ask that she
learnt the skills before taking to the airwaves. |

I believe it's Gary Bones who drives the desk when deputising for Ken Bruce. Zoe sits on Lynn Bowles' side of said desk. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Really enjoyed listening to Zoe on Saturday morning-just what Radio 2 needs.
Great show delivered by a lively presenter. |

Zoe Ball is too bumptious at that time of the day. As for Emma Forbes, I can't listen to her without picturing her making asides to camera (a practice also done by Harry Hill) like she did on The O-Zone! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Both shows are just unlistenable to me, Zoe too loud and both do endless texting drivel. I hope they don't get daytime shows with their current formats. |

I caught a part of Zoe Ball's show this morning... her baby.. her dad.. her father in law... manic giggling... everything is "brilliant"...
Terrible radio. Turned her off until Brian came along. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

You see, I do know exactly what you mean and this is the reason that, for me, Fern Cotton is one of the worst 'broadcasters' to arrive on radio. Zoe does also prattle on, gabble her words and not say anything particularly informed but, for some reason, I find her such a pleasure to listen to. Perhaps its because I'm from the generation where I was still young-ish when she was doing kids televison, but I do like her. |

I see what you mean about remembering her from the TV, and maybe R1?, and she does come across as genuine, friendly and a nice person but to me its just too much on the enthusiasm (loud) and talking.
People probably say the same about Chris Evans but I can listen to him , he has some ideas in his shows not just endless wittering. It will be interesting to see how he comes across at 7am. |

I mentioned on another thread that at 57, I don't feel my age.. although there are exceptions!
But I never did like fast talking "manic" people or TV shows such as Tiswas or Timmy Mallet... I just found them irritating and pointless.
Zoe Ball also seems talentless and pointless, certainly not Radio material for me, and her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing a couple of years back was the last straw - too much crying and babbling..
If she moved to daytime it would be as depressing as Dermot O'Leary _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I think the problem with the show it's too fast with short links which makes her talk and like this morning havn't got any teeth to speak with.
Calm down love or is the baby kicking with every tune played. |

Could you explain ?
Why is the show too fast with short breaks, aren't all R2 shows the same format , of 1/2hr or 1hr sections between the news ?
Why does this make her talk ?
Who hasn't any teeth ? |

Nothing wrong at all with either Zoe's or Emma's weekend shows.
I thoroughly enjoy both of these presenters and the format of their shows.
Good work Bob. |
