He mentioned this on his 'evening with Johnnie Walker' event in Sheffield that I went along to. Tiggy presented with him earlier in the year and feedback was highly positive, so he promised to give her another run-out.
She does present a morning show on BBC local radio station as well - she sounds like Fran to my ears. |

Thanks Nick.
Will tune in and give her a listen. I wonder if JW feels his presenting style is inhibited in any way when he has his wife alongside him? Clearly not I guess.
By the way what local BBC local station does she present on? |

As posted above they have presented before and the show was the usual excellent standard, I believe she has presented before on Radio Solent and comes across very well. |

Anyone else get the feeling JW is going to make an announcement tomorrow about what he will be doing in future on Radio 2? I dont think he will continue on Breakfast, could he be covering Drivetime or even taking over the soon to be vacant Ross slot on a Saturday morning? |

Yes you could be right, he sounds upbeat so let us hope so! I agree that they are not going to offer him the cover for CE and if I was him, I wouldn't want it either. Taking over Wossy's slot would be good, but he is worth so much more. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Fantastic shows again from Johnnie.
I really feel he deserves a daily show, it is such a shame to have him on just once a week.
They could knock Ken Bruce down to 2 hours and Steve Wright down to 2hours which would leave 1 and a half hours for Johnny either before or after Jeremy Vine. |

I have so much enjoyed the last 3 weeks. Well worth getting up for. I just can't believe the Beeb can be letting him slip away like this.... seems they just can't see what is staring them in the face. People like him, he's professional, he's sincere, he's interested in other people.... not a bit like someone else who's about to be shrieking his way across the airwaves in the unpleasantly close future. _________________ Minx

The Beeb don't know a good thing when they see it! Johnnie has been fantastic on every show.
My mum said to me not long ago, 'I can see why you always thought he was so good now'. She didn't listen to him back then so didn't quite get what we all saw in him.
He should have more airtime that's for sure.

Johnnie has just announced that this will be his last cover at Breakfast Time. Apparently he's been covering for Sir Tel for 7 years and two months. |

Didn't think the Beeb would want to invite direct comparisons between the old pro and the shouty one..... _________________ Minx

Don't blame JW at all, if it was his decision. If he stood in for Big Gob, he'd have to include all sorts of ghastly regular features that are doubtlesss in store.
I think Johhnie should take over from Steve Wrong - how on earth can his place be assured when JW is allowed to slip away? _________________ MiS |

Just heard JW refuting suggestions made on some messageboards that he was in poor health. Didn't see anything on the ones I read. Nice to know that he reads them though. _________________ Minx

Possibly because he's a bit of a shouter and needs a bunch of lackeys to work properly.

I suppose you would need to find out which ones Iain Smith still subscribes to. Wasn't he the one with an obsession with people being ill or dying? _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

That is a shame. I wonder why they've done that. On previous weeks it's always worked when Johnnie's done Terry's show. Mind you it never has on Johnnie's sunday show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

The way Johnnie signed off today made it sound as if he had elected not to do any more shows..."I've decided I didn't want to do any more stand-ins, I want to do something different".... But no indication as to what. _________________ Minx

I thought that as well Minx, I wonder what the 'something different' will be?
Must just have been Johnnie's show webcam that was off yesterday as I clicked on it later in the day (same studio) and it was okay.
Ah, I wonder if they were using a different studio which doesn't have a webcam?

Probably the studio used by Steve Wright, so Chris Evans can rehearse for the breakfast show. |

Good thinking, and why Johnnie said the place was full of 30 year olds!!

In his autobiography he says that everything he does seems to go in seven year cycles, so let's hope a new one will be starting soon with more airtime. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

He also says that he chose to present his departure from Drivetime as his idea, rather than tell his listeners that his contract wasn't being renewed (which is what his autobiography says actually happened). I can't help wondering if it really was JW's decision to stop doing stand-ins or whether he's been pushed out again.

Or maybe that he'd prove a lot more popular than the 'ginger whinger' himself on his days off. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I was intrigued by walkers' allusion to wanting to do "something new"
Could this be taking over Wossys' slot? I hope so.
I have not really listened to his breaky show, but heard most of fridays & it was excelent. |
