Found myself listening to this last night before falling asleep - this is more John W's cup of tea than mine, but I couldn't help enjoying Jay Wilbur & his band's "Santa Claus Express" (1935) and a few of the other oldies played. "Christmas in Harlem" (?) turned out to be a complete hoot, too. I've always found Clare Teal to be a welcoming and friendly voice on the radio, too. The tone/age of the show seemed to fit in with the "Battle of Leningrad" book I was reading at the same time, too.
Chances are this is never a show that I'll definitely avoid missing each week, but I think in the spirit of broadening my musical horizons during 2010 I'll make a point of trying to listen again every so often. Different is good!
(Clearly I'm getting sentimental as I get older.) _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
