What is it with Drivetime presenters that they just have to talk over the ends of classic records??? There I am enjoying "Who's That Lady" and the fabulous guitar break and Mr Smug yaps all over it.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

He yapped all over the end of 'Comfortably Numb' tonight, this is a hanging offence. |

Unforgiveable sin, in my book, but doubtless there is one on here who will defend the "mighty" Mr A! _________________ MiS |

MIS-It would be wouldn't it.
What a predictable post.
Richard has a great deal of respect for the music he plays. I would suggerst there are far worst culprits around on Radio 2 some of whom don't even bother to tell you the name of the artist/song they play. |

Can someone please tell me the title of the track he played at the end of his show yesterday? I think it was Pink Floyd? Thanks! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Glad to oblige Mark.
If he has so much respect for the music, why does he talk over it? _________________ MiS |

Richard Allinson Rocks! (copyright MM )
at least he did just now... just waiting for Mrs SF to get the tea sorted and he plays "Ace of Spades", a track I find irresistible.
Of course the volume goes up quite considerably - much to her annoyance, and then he plays "Whole lot of Rosie" which is even better for this old headbanger! I love it...
Mind you, he did talk over the end of Stray Cats earlier so he only Rocks part time _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I'd have preferred something else by Motorhead, like 'Overkill', which you hardly ever hear played, but might apply to 'Ace Of Spades' which seems to be just about the only Motorhead track you hear on the radio. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I suppose it is over exposed but I just love it... can't help but think of "The Young Ones" when I hear it. The drummer fascinated me at the time ( I think he died later? ), the bass drum foot really has to work hard on this song... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

SantafeFan-Interesting to read your "slagging off Richard Allinson posts" over on the BBC Radio 2 sites.
Lets hope no-one says anything negative about your precious Steve Wright. |

Does anybody there or here say anything positive about my hero?
Re your hero, I think "slagging off" is a little exaggerated
My usual feeble comment regarding Dicky is based on either
a - He sounds like/or is, Gary Davies
b - He comes over as bland to me
c - He appears to talk through a constant grin
plus, I agree with the negative comment re his craving for texts.... Steve Crunchy Nut Clusters Wright doesn't rely on texts for The Big Show....
does he? I haven't heard it for a while... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

He can't rely on texts - most of the show is recorded in the morning! |
