So it's all change in the mornings. I gather that Sarah will no longer be doing a newspaper review - shame. I have woken up to this each morning for quite a few years, and I will really miss it. I didn't get the impression it was her decision!!
I will be in search of pastures new from 7.00, doubtless it'll take a lot of trial and error before I settle on a suitable alternative. Trouble is, most have ghastly adverts!! _________________ MiS |

"A new generation taking over," JW has just said, "the place is full of 30-year olds"
Except that Evans is 43, Mayo 51 and Moira Stuart 60.
I've never cared much for Sarah's newspaper "review" - I prefer to read the real thing, even if I only get time for a quick skim through. I never liked the way a couple of records, usually cut off in their prime, were shoe-horned in in that quarter of an hour.
It does mean, with the extra half-hour and all, we shall get 50% more of her personal input (at which point I feel like the bloke lighting the blue touch-paper... ) _________________ Ron |

I like reading the "real thing" too Ron, but waking up at 6.44 and listening to Sarah's review then it's time to get up has been my routine for a long, long time and I like it! I like the fact she makes mistakes, gets her "worms" wrong, and can't read numbers, it makes me chuckle and at that time of day, that's no mean feat _________________ MiS |

I feel a bit like that. Goodness knows how many years I have been woken up by Alex Lester coming out of my radio alarm (apart from a four year period when I was on a later shift) OK He'll still be waking me up but all I'll get is the last ½ hour of his 'shoe'. I've nothing at all against Sarah Kennedy. If I'm awake early enough, I've always listened to her show and no doubt I'll soon get used to the new arangement. The person I feel most sorry for is Janice Long who seems to have been dealt the unkindest cut of all by haveing an hour cut from her show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

"I don't fancy doing any more fill-ins for anyone"
Don't blame you, mate.
It's been a blast. Just hang on in there - we're rootin' for you for the upcoming Saturday morning vacancy _________________ Ron |

So no more " stand ins" for Johnnie... and something a little different for the new year? perhaps we can hope for more JW on Radio 2.
I reckon he refuses to stand in for Evans personally. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I'd say he means the producers Ron!
They all look like they are fresh out of school, well the ones I met from the JV show looked that way!

I've just read Alex's blog, and I see what you mean, H
One of his producers, Andy, is going to look after Simon Mayo, the other, Simon, gets the short straw - Claudia Winkleman.
Alex's new chum is "Ss". Pictured wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt, he keeps a snake for a pet and looks suitably manic... and very young. Cross your fingers about the taste in music

I'm sure i heard sarah kennedy mumbling somnething about newspaper reviews in the new line up. She has an extra half hour to play with.
I hope JW will be taking over Wossys slot. It will be nice having something to listen to on radio 2 of a saturday morning
The weekday line up sounds good. sarah from 5, Chrisy from 7 |
