Just gone onto the iPlayer to hear Richard's show this morning... and heard Colin Berry doing the show instead. Apparently they had lost Allinson!
Nice to hear Colin doing the show... and a bit unexpected. Of course he's been presenting music shows on BBC Three Counties Radio for years.
Listen again here. _________________ Fred Hart

I listened in for 15 minutes-Colin Berry-my god-just awful.
He should just stick to reading the news.
Richard is back tomorrow. |

Why was Colin Berry "Just awful" then Mark?
I've listened to him quite a lot on Eastern Counties and have always found him enjoyable. |

Doubtless he was "just awful" because he's not Allinson! _________________ MiS |

Clearly no one in R2 management has a sense of humour. If they had they would have asked/ strongly requested Sarah Kennedy to come and deputise for RA to make up for all the times he has sat in for her ! |

The person that Colin Berry spoke to at 5.45am and then followed him at 6am was just awful! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009

Did they find out where he got to? Colin Berry used to announce the oldies out from the news on Steve Wrights shows. He also used to present the 4-6am show in the 70's and 80's. He's a fine presenter. I heard the show on listen again. I think some people are disgraceful thinking he's not.

The phones didn't ring and the alarms didn't go off. Thats why Richard wasn't in. |

But RA did suggest that he may be in tomorrow afternoon to present The Big Show as Steve Wright is marooned in the US. |

For the fans of Richard they will be pleased, because it could be for a few days. Thats why he wasn't in, because he needed an extra day off to cover for Wrighty

Yes, lets hope Richard is able to make up "his lost hours/his pay" this week by covering for Steve Wright if SW is stuck in the USA. |

Steve Wright's marooned in America? Could it happen to any better Radio 2 presenter? |

Whilst I'm sure Colin Berry is a fine newsreader, a modern day broadcaster/a presenter he is not.
Imho absolutely shocking performance-mumbling/stumbling over atrists/songs played eg ("I only know the big hits of the Rolling Stones"), no understanding of the features of Richard's show, not keeping up with the texts/e-mails coming in live to the show etc.
I don't think he was driving the desk either-links all over the place.
Give him credit for stepping in at the last minute but lets hope Richard is not caught out again in future. |

I suppose a big future awaits for Berry choosing playlists for a Sunday on Radio Leeds! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Would Richard have been given a dressing down/told off for oversleeping etc and not turning up for work yesterday.
At this rate he will be catching Sarah Kennedy up re having a "poor attendance" record etc. |

I wouldn't think it went down well. If the phones didn't go off, why didn't someone ring him at around 2pm if he's in to prepare the show around midnight? I don't think he's caught up with Sarah yet. |

I did chuckle to myself when Richard read out a text this morning from someone who asked "the nation desrves an explanation as to why you did not pitch up for work on Saturday".
Hopefully Richard will be overhauling his future "wake up procedures" to ensure he is in attendance for all future weekend shows. |

Thank the heavens that Colin Berry was restricted to just 3 minutes of airtime reading the news at the 3am this morning as opposed to the 3 hour stint he put in last week.
The UK then breathed a huge collected sign of relief when Richard came on the airways at 3.03am. |

I heard Colin presenting the news this evening Saturday. Just wondering if his BBC Northampton Saturday show is pre- recorded from 6 -9pm? |

He could do it on the circuit, couldn't he? The Beeb does have the technology you know. |
