Have only just got in from work and apparently I missed our old mate Brian Matthew guesting on Steve Wright's show.
This is quite an event in itself, as BM doesn't usually seem to do interviews in which he is the subject. Did anyone hear him?
I'll probably pick it up on Listen Again, though I'm assuming I'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Thanks for flagging that one. I'll give it a listen, too. I have a horrible feeling that Brian's contribution will have been swamped by Steve Wright's overbearing presence though. |

I heard a little of it, they played a couple of Hollies tracks in the middle and were coming back to him, but alas my phone rang and it was over when I came back to the radio.
It seemed to be mainly about the Hollies programme which airs later this week.

It might have been interesting to hear that, but for the Steve Wright factor! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Have now heard this on Listen Again. It was mostly about the Hollies two-parter but had some entertaining glimpses of BM as a milkman in his days of resting between broadcasting engagements, probably circa 1953/4.

I really wish Steve would have his guests on for a bit longer.
It's normally a couple of questions then "We'll just have a break for some music" then a couple more questions and they're gone. |

Agreed. And the music/promo trail/jingle is always perceived as being more important that the interview they so often interrupt.
It's a bit like Jeremy Vine's predelection for cutting off (often abruptly and rudely) a caller simply so that he can play a music track that's been played to death already.
"Sorry to cut you off in your prime but we've got some music to squeeze in before the news - here's Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison". |
