I hear that this morning's "Interactive fun for all the family" Breakfast Show came live from Chris "I love the sound of my own voice" Evans' garage at the bottom of his garden.

That's handy. Not far to commute.

Next thing you know, he'll be wanting to do the show from his bed to save himself the trouble of getting up.

(PS: And then he'll be asking for Fridays off due to the stress of it all.)

I heard the trailer for this. Words fail me, as you say Colin soon he'll be staying in bed to "broadcast" (not that I would call what he does "broadcasting Rolling Eyes ). Still, the BBC love him, that's all that matters Crying or Very sad

We listened to and watched some of the show. It was ok as a one-off - it was a bit like watching someone's wedding video- seemed almost historical rather than live though. Curious use of technology but not the way forward. Must have cost quite a lot more than a show from the studio.

Definitely cost more because the BBC owns and operates very few OB facilities now, having sold off the whole of the BBC Outside Broadcast division to SIS for 40m a few years back, so Evans' breakfast show would require on-side production facilities and a satellite uplink back to BH and all the associated gubbins to get things working. And, of course, the tech/production crew need to be put up for the night!

Still, ours is not to reason why..................

I'm not one of CE's detractors but can't quite see what the point of this exercise was.

It was linked to Children In Need, apparently.

(By the way, I love the word "detractor". It's one that Lonegroover uses whenever the object of his adulation is criticised!!! Smile )

It was much the same on the last week of Chris' Drivetime- all self absorbed- farewell disco nonsense, not about the listener at all. The show is pretty good in its normal format- it's easily likable. It realy spoils it when they go out and about though - remember the show from the hot-tubs? The drive and dine shows were worse than that: one would have put money on it that nothing could be but there you go.

I feel privileged to be able to respond in the negative, Rachel.

I have mastered the art of hitting the "off" button just as Evans is about to say "Thank you Moira" at 7.03am or thereabouts. Anything worse would be to forget to do so - as I sometimes do!!! Smile

I heard about this event from my holiday base in the south of France! It raised half a million for Children In Need

It's done great for Children In Need but I can't help but think these big multimedia roadshow events are the sort of thing that should be cut before stations like 6Music and the Asian Network.
