With Radio 2's documentary output now a bit patchy and, let's be honest, not as well produced, I've turned to other sources of similar programming. Thanks to a broadcast engineer friend who was recently working at RTE Radio in Dublin I discovered RTE1's fabulous collection of programme streams and podcasts.
Here's a good programme featuring Tony Sheridan, the English singer who was backed by The Beatles in the seedy Reeperbahn clubs in Hamburg.
It's a really good documentary which is also available as a downloadable Podcast (great, I can sync them to my iPhone - BBC take note!) and I feel that the production is much higher journalistic standard than we've recently come to expect from Radio 2.

Thanks for that,Colin...he had a sad start to his life that has coloured the rest of it ....have to say though I'm wary of any man who still says 'chick' in this day and age....  |
