Looks like Moylesy has gone and marked his card by airing his laundry in public. He's on a 12-month contract? That's his last, I'll wager. |

I've tried listening to him a couple of times and I can't see what Radio 1 listeners see in him, to be honest. In comparison to the high-octane noise which comes out of the station for the other 20 hours of the day, Moyles is not so much like a somnolent, grumpy old bear, more a boring old fart.
No we don't want him on Radio 2 - he can go off and do more silly late night panel games for Channels 4 and 5. _________________ Ron |

I don't dislike him, to be honest. I like his self-depracating sense of humour (something that's completely absent in Chris Evans) and his observational skills, which often make me laugh out loud. I also like his Channel 4 game show - especially since he tries to rig the result such that his favourites (usually attractive young women) win. It's all good fun.
However, I'd much rather hear good music and the minimum of banter at breakfast. I know that's a tall order, but hey. |

I must have caught him on off days then - I think one was Christmas Day morning last year. _________________ Ron |

I do agree. When I've listened I've been surprised at how slow it is. Long, rambling sequences of inane banter with very little music actually played. I liked him back in the day, but now he's lazy and arrogant. Radio 1's equivalent to Steve Wright! |

Chris Moyles was the reason I stopped listening to Radio 1 in the morning |

It'll happen. R2 is now the dumping ground for presenters who are too old for R1, along with talentless celebrities. |

I agree, it was a toss up in the old days of SW or CM in the afternoon, to be honest the CD player went on then.
BUT in CM defense 1.2m people on FB a "like" him he is not my bag at all but the BBC isn't supposed to just cater for me (oooh if only)
However this sort of rant should not have gone out on air, but leaked to the press, like any normal celeb.
I wouldn't be happy not being paid for 2 months and would start to feel less than enthusiastic in coming to work on time.

Andrew Collins, on his 6 Music breakfast show this morning, announced what was coming up then said "I haven't been paid since yesterday"... |

Having never listened to his show ( or Radio 1 in a decade ) I'm not in a position to comment on Chris Moyles' style but I think he's completely out of order complaining about his situation over the air. It's very unprofessional.
The BBC is not some back street business going under and wallpapering over the cracks. His pay mess up is surely just that... an administration error. His agent or he himself should resolve the issue.
If I were his boss I'd sack him immediately.
I was in an unfortunate position whereby I worked for six months without pay during the recession of 1990 and had to put up with clients complaining about the decline in our services and site attendance ( particularly one in Margate )
I don't think I ever divulged the reason to clients before I left the company, even though it was very tempting at times.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

You'd think his producer would have reined him in after a couple of minutes. Isn't that what he's paid for, to produce the show? _________________ Minx

Sounds like they were trying, and his team were trying to lighten it up, but he was having none of it.
Nicky Campbell on 5Live this morning said it was the last days of Chris Evans crossed with DLT (apparently John Peel called Moyles "the new Dave Lee Travis"), while Peter Allen on the same channel last night said he didn't think this sort of thing should be broadcast, let alone appear on BBC News. |

I guess the Producer is impotent when it comes to laying down the rulebook to Moyles. Moyles is obviously bigger than the show, after all!
My guess is that he got away with this because it was too early in the day for Andy Parfitt and the BBC Director of Radio to have been out of bed. Had it been towards the end of the show I can't imagine it would have been tolerated; the producer would have received a call with the instruction "Tell him to shut up or close his mic channel and play some music".
I wouldn't mind betting that an urgent meeting took place at Radio 1 HQ yesterday - and that Moyles was invited to it. |

I don't listen to Radio 1 and maybe Chris Moyles shouldn't have moaned on air about not being paid for 2 months but I don't think it's a sackable offence. I wouldn't be happy if I'd not been paid for 2 months & neither would the Building Society when I wouldn't be able to pay my mortgage !! |

If Chris Moyles is clearly so upset as he sounds I can't see him staying with the BBC after his current contract expires
Whilst I know things can change I do see that as a positive sign in the sense that we may be able to avoid having him on Radio 2
Many people think he's the choosen successor to Steve Wright but in view of recent events I'm not so sure |

"Yesterday was a ridiculous day," he said as his show began at 0630 BST. "Hopefully, this will go away." he has said today...
Typical.. throw a strop in public and then "hope it'll go away"
I'd still stamp on him from a great height.. you just don't criticise your employer on the air and then hope they'll forget about it. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

He should think himself lucky that he isn't hanging on for funding like I am at my job.
I also have the jolly prospect of my Income Support possibly being cut around October.
Merry Christmas, folks. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
