Does she still host Early breakfast when covering for Jeremy Vine, as she won't be able to host her BBC London show on those weeks. So Matthew Bannister gets the push. |

If Bannister gets the push as far as I'm concerned it will be the one good thing to come out of all this nonsense
I still won't listen to the JV show though except when he is there in his rightful place
Jane Hill should have been used for covering his show _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I prefer Bannister in the slot.

Oddly enough, JV is the one thing that puts me off about the JV show!

She isn't gobby or egotistical so she she doesn't comply with the "person specification" to work regularly on R2. |

Radio 2 really is becoming a joke. The BBC obviously appointed the current controller to send the station on a Titanic-like journey. This latest appointment is just a farce, and added to the nightmare that is Evans, will alienate many more listeners. Trouble is, much as I like Ken Bruce, I often forget to switch over to his show if something else has nabbed my attention - how many others do the same? How long will it be before they get rid of poor Ken and replace him with Alan Carr or Zoe Ball? _________________ MiS |

Yep - count me in on that list. Because I avoid The Gob at 6.30am I just don't tune back in. I don't much like JV and Wrighty annoys the hell out of me so all is just about lost, I feel. |

Do you listen to Radio 2 at any time? Colin. It seems a little odd, to me anyway, in a nice way, that you spend so much of your time talking about what you don't do. If what you do, do, is a continuous narrative of what you don't do, will there ever be any time to do what you would do, if you weren't busy doing what you do, do? If you catch my drift.
There's loads of stuff I don't do but I never mention it. Perhaps I'm odd? |

I listen to what few decent snippets of programming that remains on R2. However, on the matter of what one does or doesn't do, isn't this forum dedicated - in theory at least - to "preserving Radio 2"? That, by default, indicates a concern for the quality of Radio 2's programming and for the future direction of the station, so I'm merely adding my voice to others.
When I refer to my preference for stations like Planet Rock and Radio Caroline (among many others) I'm merely providing a point of reference for what I consider to be programming that is - in the main - better.
A secondary point is that if a bunch of very capable and professional-sounding volunteers can make Caroline such an attractive alternative, then it might be less to do with money and more to do with talent - something of which Mr. Shennan needs reminding, perhaps? |

Fair point. but quality is subjective – you can get really good quality plastic but you wouldn’t use it to make your best dinner cutlery- equally you can get really poor quality silver but you wouldn’t make tent pegs out of it.
About this preservation business. Cuprinol? |

That's true, but we're not really talking about tent pegs here - are we Rachel.

That's a question for John, I would suggest. |

0930 Alex lester

I can't believe this, every week I listen less and less. All I want is something good to listen to on my radio. I don't want to be stuck to a computer and anyway this is a broadband notspot. My mobile phone barely works, I can just about get a text but not make a call. Where do I go for some decent listening? _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Perhaps someone could make a protest song in the style of the Kaiser Chiefs... |

Ian, I loved your comment about Jimmy McGovern! I watched the Accused episode where Mackenzie Crook was the sergeant and didn't last two minutes before turning it over to 'Coppers' on C4!
Brookside turned into a party political broadcast eventually. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
