Hope he does well
Its a good and unexpected opportunity for him to show what he can do
He certainly can't be any worse than the truly excrutiating O'Leary or the usual irritating stand in _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I don't have it on as the Darts are on instead.
Tom did a show about his dads influence on Scottish bands during his lifetimes on 6music and he was great although quite odd as his voice is so like his dads as is the sense of humour.
One to watch, and the show's music will suit him better than a lot of other shows on R2
good luck Tom _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

I'm enjoying the show. He sounds quite a lot like his father doesn't he. He played some reasonable music and I quite like his interview style, nowhere near as gushy as Derms (as he calls him). Pity there's no call for professional music presenters on R2. _________________ Minx

Interestingly, I was listening to him as my 26-yr-old son popped round and the first thing he said was "Who's this? He sounds like a young John Peel".
I agreed that he sounds just like his father did back in the early/mid 70s.

After reading the last few posts, I had to tear myself away from listening to "Gary Jackson" ( an English DJ ) on KYA San Francisco to hear what Peel's son sounded like... and all I heard was the manic Alan Carr and some female squawking away..
They're gone now thank goodness.
Yes, he does sound like his dad doesn't he? has he been on Radio2 before?
Why has he got a different surname? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Oh yes, I should have known that... stupid boy...
I just heard him say he has a show on 6 Music.. I wouldn't have known that as I've never even tuned in to that station, but yes... he has a nice style.. unlike the abysmal O'Leary and Ball. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

He sounded totally bemused when that idiot Carr and his hysterical side-kick muscled in on his show! _________________ Minx

I thought he was very good. Didn't hear much of the "text and e-mail subject" that usually blights this show, and he was very efficiently playing lots of records. Even the guests didn't get much airtime as Tom played their music instead. I'd be happy with this guy as the regular. |

I thought the same as you Ian-the amount of music he actually played was more than usually is played on this show.
I am in a minority on this message board-I like both Dermot and Zoe on Radio 2 but have to say Tom Ravenscroft was quite good and seemed quite comfortable with the format.
I think Zoe will get this show full time though, if Dermot quits for X factor USA next year. |

A lovely surprise for a Saturday. I was out on the road and when POTP ended a feeling of dread came over me when I remembered that old Kermit is doing Z-Factor. |

Or maybe he'll record it after it's transmitted, and play it backwards. All the same to me. Well done to him for his charity effort, but I never listen to Radio 2 on a Saturday. _________________ MiS |

If you all don't know by now Dermot has left his Saturday show and will be moving to another slot which is due to be announced very soon. |
