I've been listening to Smooth Breakfast since early October and I sometimes don't now bother to switch back for Ken Bruce any more even though I like his show
Mark Goodier does a music quiz on Smooth at 10 45am weekdays called The Morning Grill which is almost as good as Popmaster
Its a shame Lynn Parsons won't be there after January and we're then stuck with Simon Bates but anything is preferable to Radio 2 at that time of day
Its an absolute travesty that Lynn did not get the Early Breakfast slot on Radio 2 but bearing in mind the controller's penchant for celebrities instead of real presenters its not really so surprising
Yet another backward step guaranteed to drive even more listeners away

In this case, BBC Radio London where Vanessa has been doing a show six days a week. She's on the air three hours a day on weekdays, two hours on Saturday. She has been on Radio London since 2002 and on the morning show since 2005. She won the Sony for Speech Radio Personality of the Year in 2009. According to Wikipedia, she had radio experience before that.
We've been moaning (with some justiifcation!) that Radio 2 has preferred celebs over people with radio experience. However much she isn't to your taste, Ms Feltz has a track record in radio. She was found exactly where you would hope new talent for national radio would be found - in regional radio.
I found her irritating on the telly - I'll make my judgement on her radio ability in January.

When I said where does the BBC get these people from I was actually talking about Bob Shennan
Vanessa Feltz as far as I know started out on TV and whilst she may have subsequently gained radio experience this has mainly been in hosting phone ins and the like and she has never worked on a specialist music station which begs the question does she actually know anything about music
I suspect probably not and I certainly won't be listening _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

It won't make a lot of difference, though, because Sarah Kennedy knew very little about music that wasn't a "showtune" - the running order was compiled by the Producer and she just hit the button. That's evident by the way she used to say things like "That's a jolly nice tune. I've never heard it before" when it would usually be something that's been played to death on R2 for years. |

but at least she wasn't afraid to give us her opinion on some records which she was forced to play, eg the dreaded playlist, when she thought they were naff |
