Is Enough Already the forum that was run by that Dave bloke after the BBCR2MB closed the first time round? Looks to me that he's given up with it and given others the chance to run their own - and has already re-directed the URI from his to theirs in the process.
They're using a free forums resource and on a sub-domain "yeahwhatever".
No politics or current affairs, I note. Maybe he just got sick of it all. Can't say I blame him, to be honest, especially since he was also hosting it on his own server.

Yes, I think it was Jezza's Exiles before that wasn't it? I can't remember now.
It's a shame there's no News and Current Affairs section as that seemed to be the most popular spot on EA.. and it got pretty heavy sometimes too! so some posters may be "homeless" for a while..
Strangely, I was re-reading some of the earliest posts on the "3 word story" and similar comical threads on EA and was laughing at how funny some were.. I suppose they've disappeared into cyberspace now.. shame really..
I noticed my old login doesn't work either.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Something happened on Saturday night. I happened to be having a look for the first time in ages and it closed while I was on there.
EA was the board that came about when Jezzas closed. Agent Sizzle ran it supported by Dave who was on Jezzas as technical support.
It came back yesterday and we had a quiz on the chat board but this morning Meadow has taken it on. No politics, News or aggro hopefully.

Jezzas Exiles was BDG's board which I was also involved with SanteFe. Sizz wanted her own board.

Helen, the reason why it would "come and go" is that once the domain owner (Dave) had reassigned the "landing page" for all internet requests for the domain name - enoughalready - it takes time for the internet to learn the new location of the site to be served up to your browser. This can take a few days for the right information to be propagated to domain servers around the world. When I did this the last time, I found that sometimes the browser would take me to the new location and then 10 minutes later it would revert me to the old location. It all depends on the route that your browser's request is taking.
I would also imagine that the reason the old membership data and posts hasn't been ported over is that the free web host doesn't allow a MySQL database import - probably the same here with BizHat - so it's necessary to start from scratch.
Why has he decided to call it a day on Enough Already? I did use it a few times when he first opened it but I got fed up arguing the toss with, er, complete tossers (not to put a finer point on it!) and total right-wing bigots. Did it ever improve?
And who is this "agent sizzle" character? |

No Dave decided he didn't want to do it anymore which is why Meadow has set up a different one. Dave 'redirected' all hits to Meadows.

from my few visits there recently, it did appear there had been a few upsets between members of late.. and it looked as though there were only a few die hard members posting whilst many had left..
I stopped posting on the "comical" threads years ago as there was an influx of really annoying members placing silly, rude and meaningless posts, spoiling it for everybody else!
I wonder where the "heavyweights" will go now? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I don't know why they don't just set up their own forums, etc. I can think of one person who really ought to do this - and then have to put up with the constant barrage of spam and flaming he's used to creating himself! |

I have to admit that Enough Already was my second favourite message board, although I generally steered well clear of the Current Affairs & Politics forum because, to paraphrase Colin, it attracted an element which might have made Adolf blush, ironic considering that the board's owner, "Agent Sizzle", is an extremely articulate and mild-mannered lady who sits very much on the idealistic, left hand side of the fence.
I wasn't around at the weekend to see what caused the final implosion, but I'd seen it coming for some time. Although the rest of the board was pretty good it's raison d'etre, following Jezzas, was discussion of current affairs and politics, and Sizz apparently finally had enough of all the arguments and accusations from both left and right. She's not the first (the other board raised upon the demise of Jezzas has also undergone change of ownership and domain) and she won't be the last.
Meadow's new board is intended to be a friendly, light-hearted and chatty place. The "heavyweights" aren't welcome, and, with no CA & P, shouldn't be attracted. It will take a little while to bed in, but if you want to have a look here's a link http://yeahwhatever.phpbbhosts.co.uk/index.php - all but the General Chat and Health & Wellbeing forums are open to view. You'll recognise a few names from here and from the old, pre-2006 BBC days. _________________ Ron |

Yes. It's a completely different site with a new database. The only similarity is that it uses the same server-side software (phpBB3).
Technically, Meadow wouldn't be allowed to import all the data from another website anyhow. Under the Data Protection Act, users have to grant their permission for such data to passed to a third party. |
