It's time to don your groovy sunshades and get into your beachwear because the days are about to get longer! Today is the Winter Solstice - the pagan festival known as "Yule" - the shortest day of the year (well, the day with the least duration of sunlight, as it were).
This year, the Winter Solstice coincides with a Lunar eclipse for the first time in 372 years. The last time this occurred was in 1638 - four years before the start of the English Civil War (1642–1651)!

Sounds like a good reason to crack open a bit of the Christmas festive booze for a Solstice party
I wouldn't think an outdoor one would be a very good idea just at present _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

but shouldnt' we be dancing around bonfires and running naked through the woods to celebrate
I thought about seeing the eclipse this morning, it couldn't be seen from our house, but it was -12degC outside so I decided not. |

There's nothing I like better on the Winter Solstice than a naked run through the woods Nod, but I have a feeling that the nuts might be a bit on the cold side (not sure about the mushrooms though )
Could be a bit crunchy in this weather I suspect _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
