It was great to hear the repeat of this gig tonight. It was recorded at the Cheltenham Jazz festival earlier this year and broadcast on Radio 2 in May. I heard it then and listened afterwards on iplayer at the time.
I saw them at the Barbican a couple of weeks ago which was very good although rather over-amped so I was delighted to have spotted it today in the RT just in time to hear it. I do like to hear the lyrics of a song!
She sang many standards as well as some of her own songs and the 42-piece orchestra was full of top musicians many of whom I recognised from other big bands - Jay Craig, Colin Skinner, Ralph Salmins, Martin Shaw as well as Guy Barker himself.
Superb all round performances. |

I caught most of this programme, and enjoyed it. I think she sings pretty well, I'm just not keen on listening to her talk. _________________ Minx
