Heard today that Simon Cowell could become a 'Sir'. Apart from given a few talentless people 5 minutes, he's done a lot of charity. |

If I ran a charity I'd be embarrased to be associated with a man who has totally ruined the music business _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Its also rumoured that it could be sir "becks" too.

"Could be" or "will be"?
I have total admiration for those people who refuse to accept a royal gong. The whole thing's a complete nonsense - another remnant of our imperialist past. |

So there was little point in creating this thread, Mark. Why post it? |

Albert Finney (actor) refused a knighthood in 2000 and and CBE in 1980 as he is said to find such awards 'snobby'
Good for him I say. |

It's rumoured that David Bowie turned down a regal gong a few years back, too. |

Honor Blackman, French & Saunders, Raold Dahl all refused
as well as the slightly more public Benjamin Zephaniah. I think he was an odd choice anyway, what were they expecting him to go against his principles which are quite clear in his writing _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

Did Burt Kwouk get honoured for his services to Harry Hill on Channel 4 as well as to Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther films?
Cowell is the reason the Wakefield branch of HMV lied to me that Spock's Beard weren't a big selling band. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
