Out in the lorry this afternoon, so had Zoe Ball on to relieve the monotony.
Presentation down to Ms. Ball's usual blabbering standards, music content had too much Britpop and Indie for my taste, but I did like the jingles..... reminded me very much of the sort of stuff Kenny Everett used to do. |

Didn't hear this show,Gnasty but it reminded me that this morning the person who was in for Zoe had a nice easy way with her and was very pleasant to listen to... |

Who was in for Zoe in the early Saturday slot?
It wouldn't be Lynn Parsons as she has the dreaded swine flu and was absent from her shows on Smooth both yesterday and today
Might it have been Janie Lee Grace? _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

It was Nikki Bedi who did Zoe's morning show yesterday. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

If Lynn has swine flu I wonder who will do Early Breakfast this week?

From what was said by Dave Brown on Smooth this morning - he's the man who does the Motown Show- I'd be extremely surprised to hear Lynn at all this coming week Helen
Unless of course she takes a leaf out of Steve Wright's book and attempts to do a show when clearly not well enough to do so properly
I'm sure Nikki or Janey will fill the breach if necessary but I wish Lynn a speedy recovery because as you know she is one of my favourite presenters _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Yes wishing a speedy recovery to Lynn- a fine professional presenter who should have got the Early Breakfast gig full time imho.
If she is absent this week perhaps Richard Alllinsoin might be given a call. |

I wondered if Richard would be doing it as well Mark. We'll see tomorrow!

I was surprised when you read she had swine flu. If it was that then she would be laid up for more than 2 days. |

I think someone on Smooth may have got that wrong
Although I did not listen this morning sounds more like seasonal winter flu to me _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

She certainly had no signs of having any kind of flu this morning, she sounded bright as a button.

That seems very odd Helen
According to what was said on Smooth over the weekend she was described as having problems with her voice and having swine flu symptoms of one minute feeling very hot and the next minute shivering cold
As I said I would guess it was just normal winter flu rather than specifically swine flu
I'm not sure the bosses at Smooth will be too happy if they heard her this morning on Radio 2 and she performed as you describe _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Some Flu bugs are like Flash Floods- they come quickly they’re terrible, they knock you flat for 24-48 hours, then they’re gone as quick as they came. Depends on your immune system too. |

Just listening to The Jeremy Vine Show now the doctor Sarah Jarvis said that 80% of the flu viruses circulating currently are swine flu related so it is possible that Lynn could have had swine flu but perhaps not the worst strain
As has been mentioned there are so many variables which can affect the length of time a person is ill with it and I think even the experts can't put a precise timescale on it _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I dont know how that works between Smooth and Radio 2? I have had in the past a 48 hour bug as long as you rest, you are usually ok afterwards. |

I had that 3 days last week, felt really rough but I didn't think it was swine flu. Just thought I had a chill and a bit of a head cold, was sneezing a bit.
