But this is an interesting development regarding Radio 4 and possibly it may affect what Radio 2 does in the future as BBC6 Music is mentioned too and is going to be made more of a stand alone station so more seperate from R2...
This also shows changes to BBCRadio 7 in April when it changes it's name to Radio 4 Extra...

Thanks for the link but it seems to say the opposite about Radio 2 and 6 Music :-
"Announcing the launch of Radio 4 Extra, he explained how plans for the station reflect the approach of aligning digital-only networks more closely with analogue "sister" stations – exploiting the strength of existing programmes and network brands – with the exception of BBC 6 Music which, with a clear identity and strong brand, will remain a "stand alone" music network."
Having been subjected to Radio 7 it from morning till night for over a week as the chap doing some work for me had it on extremely loudly, I think I'll leave R4 extra alone for a while!

I hope Radio 2 and BBC6 Music don't duplicate too much in the future and if BBC6 Music is changing Radio 2 could and should do more of it's specialist music/documentaries etc...so it isn't so similar.
Especially, as budget cuts mean the liklihood of the BBC starting a station with musical output on the lines of what we have on Sunday nights and what John is often seen as being neglected on Radio 2 isn't going to happen. |

I quite like some of the output on Radio 7 especially the old crime drama such as Rumpole with Maurice Denham. It will be a shame if all we get are repeats of Radio 4 and more of the dreaded Archers. |

I think that Radio 7 has problems clearing rights and converting archived material so it can be played now(budget retraints)and maybe there is not as much of the early stuff as we hope but as long as they are careful like you I too hope that the overal feel and content of the station isn't spoilt.
Most of the station's output is from Radio 4 anyhow but as long as it isn't too recent. |

I don't like the prospect of Chris Evans hosting golf coverage on Five Live either! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
