When JW played Be Bop Deluxe's Maid in Heaven he said that Gary Bones rushed in to ask what that great sounding record was, so hopefully he now has some more ideas for KBs show
You do worry if he hasn't heard this record before |

Hooooooray, hopefully that will be one more song added to Bone's repertoire (if you can call it that).
Sorry to say I don't know the song either
Only just found out that a song I really like by Brian Setzer:- "Rocket Cathedrals" was by Be Bop Deluxe too, I always thought it was one of his own songs |

Just had a listen to "Maid In Heaven" on Youtube, think it sounds a great record.
Love the little staccato type guitar bit (I haven't got a clue how to describe it) |

The work of the great Bill Nelson - one of the finest (and vastly under-rated) guitarists of the era. I have the vinyl LP from which that single was taken around here somewhere. Must dig it out and give it a whirl because they were one of the best bands from the 70s. |

The Ken Bruce show seems to be have the same limited mix of songs every month; yes, there's variety but within a very small range
even the long songs after Popmaster or in the 11-12 hour, are on some sort of rotation and rarely is something very different heard (good when it does but few and far between)
i think Gary Bones knows his stuff, but he would probably say he has to cater to a peak audience and thinks any more 'specialist' stuff might alienate them... i'm sure we all disagree with that, but i think that's the situation |

Subsequently an article in the Mirror was headed 'Maid In Heaven' - even though I doubt a majority of the music writers in that weren't even born when this was out! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

If he knows his stuff then he hides it well, all he seems to choose is insiped and dull stuff |
