Memo to Popmaster from Dept of Advanced Nerdery: There were 3 chart entries called Pied Piper, not 2 as you said this morning. You correctly mentioned the ones by Crispian St Peters and Bob and Marcia but don't overlook the one which gave Steve Race a Top 30 entry in 1963.

Ah yes but was that actually the same track - I think not
Obviously Ken was talking about the track performed by Crispian St Peters and Bob and Marcia and to have mentioned the Steve Race track might have simply confused the contestant so on this occasion I think they got it right
As it happened the point was academic anyway as the contestant did not even recall the other two - I sometimes wonder where they get these mediocre Popmaster contestants from _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Thanks for this. No, the Steve Race one wasn't the same. I don't know the Bob and Marcia track and didn't realise that it was the same song as the Crispian St Peters one. Thanks for sorting that. Actually I think the Popmaster questions are getting harder (that's my excuse for poor performance!).

Ian, I agree that the questions are harder than say three or four years ago but I also think the quality of the contestants has deteriorated markedly in recent months
Sometimes now I have to turn Popmaster off simply because I get so annoyed at just how little basic knowledge some of these people seem to have
Frankly if people can't achieve a score of at least twenty they really shouldn't bother applying _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Mother Gong had an adaption of the Pied Piper story on their 'Fairy Tales' album, but I'm not expecting Gary Bones to programme it as the long track/toilet break!
The Mayor & Corporation's diddling of the Piper after he rid them of rats sounds similar to a certain arts organisation delaying my payments (see also 'No Charge' by JJ Barrie!). _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
