Did anyone catch this today at 1:30pm? It featured the mother of a soldier killed in Afghanistan talking about her son and playing some of his favourite songs. Very moving. Four more mothers will be on as the week progresses.

No I didn't hear it.
I decided I didn't want to listen, today at least, unsure if they are perhaps over doing it? Not for a moment do I think we shouldn't all be so thankful to those who gave their lives in the wars. I'd have said why not do a whole show on Friday rather than spin it out over the week.
It seems we can't do anything for one day only.

I've inadvertently caught at least part of this each day this week. I found it very sad, very moving. _________________ Minx

The programmes have been very well put together.
Wisely JV left the bulk of the talking to the Mothers themselves. I liked his comment at the end of today's show "now I know what the next of kin have been infomed really means."
Radio 2 comes in for much criticism but I thought this was an excellent piece of Radio. It was a tough listen but none the worse for that. |

In the end I managed to catch most of each day's broadcast. My admiration for those mothers who managed to articulate their stories knows no bounds. _________________ Minx

Agree with all the above. It should be compulsory listening for politicians.
