From Treasure Hunt to Radio - After how many weeks or months I thought she might got the grip of how to read the time and how to read what music is played. It's just such awlful Saturday Morning Radio which has made me tune else where. I don't understand how she got a job on a national station? I think she would have been more suited on Magic or Smooth playing music with the odd link. It too open for her and needs tight segways or maybe voice tracked shows?

Or move her to a specialist show. Bring in someone to liven up the show, and not make it sound morbid. It's a little harsh, but it's been poorly managed and unfair throwing someone into the lions den.

I only hear the very end of her show and I agree, it does make one wonder how these decisions are made at the BBC...

If Lynn Parsons is now no longer available as would appear to be the case then I think it would be better to give Sara Cox a go at the early Saturday show - she seems intelligent amusing and very adaptable as the only presenter who has ever appeared both on Radio 1 and Radio 2 in the same week

As for Ms Rice she clearly must be well in with people in high places because there is simply no other explanation as to why she is still there even at that time on Saturdays Rolling Eyes

I've listened on car journeys in the past and she's been pretty bad. Inane, and without and musical knowledge to redeem her.

Listened to her at 7.30am Saturday and she said " it was the 7am News. - Then she said " The Wanted song 'Walks Like Rihanna' was actually Rihanna". Mistakes can happen, but two in a few minutes of eachother shows she's not got the eye on the ball. It's not as if she's running the desk.

Sara Cox would be breath of fresh air.

I like Anneka's show. Apart from not having a menagerie of animal mating calls at her fingertips , she's very Sarah Kennedy.

It's the wrong slot for her on a Saturday Morning. People want to wake up or other things with some enjoyment in the persons voice.

Seems we aren't the only ones complaining about Anneka, plus several others. In the Culture section of this week's Sunday Times the 'have your say' columns that are on most of the daily TV guide part had 2 of them taken up with complaints about Radio 2.

There must have been something said about Zoe Ball, probably when she did Breakfast, a couple of weeks ago but there were separate complaints about her, Claudia and Patrick Kielty for babbling on. Vanessa got it too and JV for shouting too much. They suggested Richard Allinson and Richard Madeley for morning holiday coverage instead of those we get just now.

7 or 8 separate comments and I did wonder if anyone on here had written in LOL!

However it does seem that we might be regarded as leading opinion on this particular issue and where we lead others now seem to follow Laughing

Anneka's certainly isn't the best show but at least it's not as loud and hyped up as the Mon-Fri breakfast show and she is not as babbling as others. Relaxing before SOTS Very Happy

We've said this before Mark, they shouldn't play stuff for those younger than 35. If they don't like R1 etc fair enough but they shouldn't expect a station to target them with the music it is playing.

The population is aging something the BBC and it would seem other stations have over looked.

Obviously I agree with Helen's comments but I do think we need to keep a sense of proportion here

Of the current week's playlist we have that lady formerly in Abba whose name I can never pronounce who must be in her early sixties now and the likes of Belinda Carlisle who I know is 55 so I can live with a small amount of contemporary music - if that is the right description

I don't actually think that Radio 2 really bases its playlist on audience age but rather more what is deemed to fit the station's current profile - which of course iis largely influenced by the network controller - so at the end of the day it all comes back to Mr Shennan Sad

One think I do find really irritating is Steve Wright constantly playing music by the likes of Carly Ray Jephson and to a lesser extent Rhianna - I have absolutely nothing against either of those artists but he just seems very hung up on those tracks probably to the exclusion of others - hopefully The Wanted Laughing

That's the point Mark, Radio 2 should be aimed at older people and it blatantly isn't.
I don't mind new music but I have zero interest in The Wanted, Daft Punk and Bruno Mars being repeated constantly day after day.
They really need to get someone like Malcolm Prince from Paul O'Gradys show to sort out the music.
He plays a great cross section of music, kind of like how Radio 2 used to be.

Why are they playing the Abba girls single though Ruddles?
I personally think it's because it has a dance/disco beat like virtually everything else.
As I've said before it's the same with Elvis, Nina Simone, Leo Sayer, Shirley Bassey etc. The only songs of theirs you'll hear in the daytime are the ones with the dance remixes.
Elvis is one of the biggest recording artists ever and the only record deemed suitable for Radio 2 is "A Little Less Understanding"?
That's just ridiculous!!

The new one by Agnetha Faltskog is actually very good, Dancing The Pain Away? (Her last one, a month or two ago, was awful).
Indeed, that is one reason why I listen to Radio 2: I always want to hear good new songs. Ollie Murs' song Dear Darling is as good as it gets, possibly the best song from the last couple of years. Tom Odell's song is also very good, if a little Coldplayish.

I like Anneka. Her show is calm, it's a very good listen in bed drinking tea show.

I've probably listened to Anneka's show about 10 times, whenever I've had the chance to work on a Saturday morning.
I've always found it a really nice show, with an as mentioned before Sarah Kennedy vibe.
I like a presenter to mention what they've been up to during the week, or if they really love a record or artist etc etc
She also seems to involve the listeners a lot more than other djs and has a good rapport with them too which seems to be sadly missing from a lot of radio 2 nowadays.

Nothing much to be found on the web. His own site hasn't been updated since 2010.

This CD was released in April - Previn accompanying Michael Feinstein on piano with David Finck on bass - no inkling as to when it was recorded.

If you listen to Anneka a lot, as we do in bed on a Saturday morning then you will have noticed, as we have, her use of the word ' literally'.

We have a Saturday morning sweepstake: whoever guesses the closest to the number of times she says 'literally' during the first hour of the show gets to choose, what if anything, and how we do it , before getting out of bed....

The reason I mention it this week, is because we were in a hotel on Saturday, so there was lots more scope than usual..
