Sir Bruce Forsyth is stepping down as presenter on Strictly Come Dancing he's been presenting the show since 2004. The BBC One series celebrates its 10th series later this year.
No replacement has been announced.
Sir Bruce will continue to present one-off specials of the show such as Strictly Christmas Special and the Strictly Children in Need Special.
The presenter, who was knighted in 2011, missed a number of shows last series due to illness.
He quit the results show in 2010 and was replaced by Claudia Winkleman. The show is recorded immediately after the live show on a Saturday.
"I've been leaving this show since it started," he jokingly told BBC News in 2009. |

He isn't "stepping down" as stated in BBC Press Releases - it's been recommended that he retire from the show by BBC bosses due to the increasingly heavy criticism of his presenting style. |

Yes,as reported anywhere you care to look Brucie is stepping down from Strictly.
From the web..
"The host revealed he mulled over his decision during a winter holiday in the Caribbean.
He added: “I was thinking about it all the time. I’ve just got back and I’ve really realised the time is now.
“It’s my decision, there have been no meetings, but I was so pleased they asked me to come back for the Christmas special and Children in Need. I’m certainly not retiring."
The consumate performer has at last decided it's time to call it a day and after a few stumbles on the recent live shows of Strictly he has wisely, in my view ,made the right decision.
For me his best times were when he compered the Generation Game ....loved that programme.
Who next? I see Paul O'Grady has been mentioned ..I would like to see him do the job but perhaps it would be too stressful for him considering his health issues. |
