I've read this (again) fairly recently so I'm looking forward to this adaptation appearing later this year. I was wondering who would play the albino vicar Francis Davey and see it will be an actor called Ben Daniels. I hope they keep closer to the original than the old Charles Laughton film of the late 1930s, which did NOT please Daphne du Maurier at the time as it bore little relation to her book and characters were swapped around.

Shaun Keaveney (yes, there is an alternative breakfast show, people), had Jessica Brown Findlay (she who was the youngest daughter in Downton) on this morning's show. She's playing Mary Yellan, so I may well be watching it.

My Grandaughter's Grandmother lives right opposite...Jamaica Inn, not Downton Abbey.

I used to pass it a lot when I lived in that neck of the woods.

Sarah Dunant was full of praise for Jamaica Inn on the review show Front Row the other evening so I'll definitely be watching it. I haven't read the book since I had a Daphne Du Maurier phase in my youth.

There's a really good article in this week's RT, featuring Christian Browning, Daphne Du Maurier's son. He's very pleased with it, too.

It sounds promising and I am so looking forward to it. Good to know her son approves.
