Can't believe there isn't a thread for this????
Anyway good to have her back, she's mad as a hatter but her music choice for me is great. You really have no idea what will come next! O/H says 'where did she find that?' every week.
That said I did enjoy Dale Winton sitting in as he played a few good tracks which certainly helped on a long dark car journey. Paddy O'Connell I don't think understood half the emails that were sent in and sounded like he thought Liza's listeners were not from the same planet as him!

I find her quite cold, to be honest. Everything seems fake, and she seems to be having a laugh at listener's expense. |

I tend to agree Ian - she always gives me the impression of being quite amateurish and being there only to satisfy her own personal agenda _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I very rarely,if ever, listen to any radio on a Saturday night,Helen, but when I saw your post I had a look at Liza's playlist and it sure is a varied one. |

She certainly has an eclectic taste in music Becky and I think she puts more of her own choices in than most presenters do. I read a magazine article about her (think it was Woman and Home), she'd made a film and it was around the time she began doing Saturday mornings. In it she said she chose all the music herself. That's when I first began listening to her and the article made sense.
She plays some gems IMHO.

I used to listen every week to Lisa's show. When it didn't cl;ash with Strictly, or a decent football match. Even then, I'd listen on catch up. For some strange reason, I've fallen by the wayside. But it's an excellent show, with some little gems that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Add to that, her mad self and you have a winning formula. I love to collect music. Lisa's show satisfies my passion.
If anyone finds her amateurish or cold, then I can only say...
Ho Hum. By Annette Hanshaw, circa 1931.

Just another little plug for Liza's fabulous show.
Not only does she play some wonderful stuff - I mean, this week's starts with Eddie Cantor - Yes Sir, That's My Baby, and includes gems by Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sister, The Zombies, Pops Staples, Ian Dury etc, Aretha, Beck, The Bonzos, Sinatra, Doris Day, Jackie Wilson, Nina Simone...and many more treats besides. If you can't derive pleasure out of that lot, then I can only surmise that you must be dead from the neck up.
In my excitement, I almost forgot the point of this post.
A good chuckle is to be had, starting about 1: 17: 15 in.

Infectious laughter...
I'm listened to this on Listen Again as I did some emails ,this afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed it....must try to remember to listen again.. I've always liked Liza and I liked the music she played.
Hadn't heard the Nina Simone one before.
She reminded me it was the The RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch over the weekend..I meant to do that and then forgot. She mentioned a pied wagtail.. I thought perhaps after a look in my bird book that I had seen one the other week in my garden...it was either one of those or a long tailed tit..either way it was lovely.
I used to enjoy Without Prejudice ..a game show that Liza did on Channel 4, a few years back. |

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Becky. Makes it worthwhile posting. x
That's a cracking Nina track, isn't it? I've got it on a Gold compilation album, which sells for silly money on Amazon. I've picked up a few of her CDs in that way.
I would also highly recommend the documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?, which I saw on Netflix, thanks to having my son-in'laws password...
But most of all, I'm glad you got the nudge about the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch...
My money's on the long-tailed tit, if it was on your feeder btw...pied wagtails are usually to be seen hopping or running on the ground or grass.
Never heard of that show, though. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

So, some pretty amazing radio from Lisa Tarbuck stand in Richard Bacon....
"Please send in your comments, I would have nothing, nothing to say if not for your comments"
"Send in exactly what you have accomplished since the start of the show"
"I want to end with a big finale, let me know what you can see from your car window, anything at all, even the number of the car in front"
so what's he worth? £500k, £600k? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

My thoughts exactly SantaFefan If I remember correctly he said exactly the same thing when he did Drivetime a couple of years ago. He obviously hasn't honed his broadcasting expertise in the intervening years.....

Yes thanks Helen, and with you too I hope, sorting out mostly done?
Enjoying retirement very much indeed, never been so busy but in a nice way. Bought a nice old Cadillac convertible a couple of weeks back so looking forward to that getting here eventually... it's coming from Salt Lake City. Our "new" house gets worked on now and then but we're fine with it as is..... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Yes we're on the last lap I hope with the estate, so just our garage to sort though now with the stuff we brought down here. We won't know what's hit us when it's all finally done!
Wow the Cadillac sounds impressive! The expat British people who ran the motel where we stayed for many years in Florida and became friends with drove Cadillacs and it was a treat to go out with them to a restaurant.

Really? I always wanted a 50s Cadillac convertible and they are getting way out of reach for most people so I thought it's now or never! It's all in the year for Cadillacs... a 59 is mega bucks sop I settled for a 58.. a red convertible. It will be October by the time I get her so straight in the garage over winter I reckon!
Glad things are getting sorted out! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

It wasn't a convertible but it was huge, and there weren't many on the roads. It was in '79 and it wasn't new so probably early 70s. He had newer ones later on.
Yours will be superb I'm sure!

I love the word Cadillac. Hearing it always takes me back to the America I remember seeing in films when I was young. Lovely sleek cars going down lovely avenues, past lovely houses that had lovely swimming pools...I wanted to live in that America when I was young.
(Perhaps you could post a picture of yours,Santa, when you get it.) |

Me too Becky!
I always remember Gerry Marsden saying it when he sang "Maybelline"!

I'd love to post a picture Becky but I can't remember how to do it!..
Yes, another retirement "tick box" here.. always wanted a Cadillac convertible from the 50s and spookily, this one coming (1958) is bright red and called "Maybelline".... after the red Cadillac on the Chuck Berry album "Motivatin'"
I also have a 62 Cadillac in white called "Marsha" after Mrs. SantaFe said she drives like a Marshmellow!.
I had a call from the shippers this afternoon from Houston and the chap there apologised for not getting in contact sooner but his house had been been badly damaged in the floods.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
