Going out right after Liza I happened on the 2nd episode of this show last night and really enjoyed it. Replacing JW's Rock Show for the next 5 weeks I think it's worth a listen as there was a real mix of tracks.
Have not listened to Ricky on R2 before but I think he's done folk shows in the past if I remember past trailers correctly.
Episode 1 is of course on the Listen Again or I suppose we have to call it 'Sounds' these days...... I much prefer the former name, I guess because of the "it does what it says on the tin" mentality!

Missed last week's but caught last night's. Eclectic mix of tracks including Frank Sinatra's Fly Me To The Moon + a good story about him and later a fabulous live Judy Garland medley of 3 tracks of hers that I love, You Made Me Love You, For Me And My Gal and The Trolley Song.
All the tracks were live performances.

I'm really enjoying Ricky's show. I like his Deacon Blue stuff in any case, but I've heard quite a few of his radio programmes over the past years. He also has a show on Radio Scotland, which I've listened to from time to time.
I'm glad you posted this up H, as I'd only heard the first 30 mins on Saturday night. So now listening again from the beginning, but looking forward to hearing three live songs from Judy.
Which takes me to last night's Don Black programme, devoted to the great Johnny Mercer. I never knew that he wrote I Remember You about Judy Garland. So then, after learning that, I had to google then both and find out more about their love affair. Well worth looking into. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |
