Part of the new schedule but I'm really enjoying this edition of FNIMN from 2017.

Shaken and Stirred - Spies. Loads of film and TV themes including the Third Man of Harry Lime Theme.

Sort of takes me back to Melodies For You and really enjoying it.

I wouldn't be upset if it was moved from Friday nights as I never or only rarely listen then.

Another great episode featuring music from the Movies of the 50s presented by Leo Green first aired in 2016. Loads of music from great movies. Orchestra excellent and at one point I thought I was at a John Wilson Orchestra's concert, probably a Gershwin one. Of course John re wrote the scores from the originals after they were all lost in a fire.

Again, I only heard some of last night's, while pottering about in the kitchen. I think it's so much more suited to Sunday evenings. A rare example of the bods at R2 getting something right.

I feel like writing to someone about it as I'd love it to be a permanent fixture. Don't mind that they are repeats as I've not heard 99% of them before.

Like you I'm pottering in the kitchen as I used to when Melodies for You was on.

If you're fond of TV themes tonight's Sunday Night Is Music Night will be a good listen for you. First aired in 2016 and presented by John Humphreys it's titled '80th Anniversary of Television Service'.

Another must listen tonight, a tribute to Gene Kelly with John Barrowman, Matt Ford and Scarlett Strallen. Lots of Gershwin and overtures but I thoroughly enjoyed it as I pottered around the kitchen!

Will record it later to listen again, whenever.

I can't remember the last time I heard FNIMN, as Sundays seem to be a good day for quality TV.

But the latest act of cultural crime from the BBC, which includes the BBC Concert Orchestra, is surely an axe too far. These musicians are the foundations of what made them.

I only ever applied for FNIMN tickets once, and I got picked! At The Mermaid Theatre to see Beth Nielsen Chapman. A great night. Sadly, it wasn't Ken on duty that evening, but Aled Jones was likeable enough.

Last time I saw him on TV, was with Michael Ball, stuffing their faces in Las Vegas. More like Lads Vegas, really.

Looks like Sunday Night Is Music Night is finally coming to an end. Paul Gambaccini is getting a new slot in the 8-10pm slot on Sundays so I guess that's it?

Doctor Who @ 60: A Musical Celebration

Since its launch on BBC Television in November 1963 Doctor Who has been delighting millions of fans all over the world as they have followed the adventures of the Time Lord.

With its instantly recognisable theme, specially composed music has always been at the heart of Doctor Who. In this celebration concert from BBC Hoddinott Hall in the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and The BBC Singers conducted by Alastair King, explore this music with works by Murray Gold, Segun Akinola, Dudley Simpson, Paddy Kingsland and of course Ron Grainer’s original theme as imagined by the BBC Radio Radiophonic Workshop’s Delia Derbyshire. Guests include Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies and composer Murray Gold who has recently returned to the show.

The thing is the BBC Concert Orchestra are on salaries and they charge money for tickets so the BBC aren't saving any money by axing S/FIMN. They're just not interested in doing it any more, which is a shame.
