I saw the Tweet from Mark Punter a couple of days ago, courtesy of Nicky Horne. Sheer panic from the BBC, I suspect. I blathered on about R1 getting all those extra channels a while back on here somewhere, for an audience who neither pay the licence fee, or listen to R1 for their type of er, music.
Anyway, I wish Mr Punter well, but I can't help thinking that a vast majority of ex-listeners won't be tempted back to hear a load of old programmes. The BBC under Davie, have messed up most radio. Local radio, R2 and 6Music, where the best DJ's they have, Marc Riley and Gideon Coe, have been shunted from their usual programmes - especially Marc, to make way for lesser presenters and music, while ensuring that their figures dive even further. Absolutely clueless. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

Wasn't this what we all used to bleat on for back in the day on the old BBC R2 boards???
Just think if they had listened there would have been far less hassle!

On the basis that this would be sensible, I would not expect it to happen.
It would not be consistent with the Audience Alienation scheme.
Also, it might be seen as too much of an admission of failure?
I think we are still to see the full impact of recent changes on the listening figures.
I am still not sure what anyone over 50 is supposed to listen to? |
