I do believe this is the best show on the radio at the moment.
There's just something about these two together that rings all the bells for me. They play a good, varied selection of tracks and usually make interesting comments on most because they have a vault of knowledge about music and musicians plus, I like Mark's input being a drummer himself.
I also find their banta really amusing too... it's strange that yesterday morning, I got quite depressed about you know who on the Breakfast Show and yet I turned R&M on that evening to find myself laughing out loud to their antics and not wanting to turn the radio off.
They were talking about a caller having unwanted woodchip paper on their ceiling and how to go about removing it... daft subject but quite funny.
When Noddy's on with them it's superb, just so nice to hear the stories about the music I like ( in general ) and his humour is spot on too.
Long may they broadcast together... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Totally agree. But I would be careful what you say these days. If we like it, the BBC will have it off the airwaves in an instance! Can't be doing with this giving the customers what they like. _________________ Minx

Completely agree. Radcliffe and Maconie is the only radio 2 show left that I make sure to catch (though sadly mostly on iPlayer these days). Here's to the boys. |

Minx has a point - write to them and tell them you hate it and they'll give it an extra hour! _________________ MiS |

I enjoyed the Peter Gabriel interview this week (done by Mark in a hotel previously), but was Stuart busy looking for the Wicked Witch of the West's broomstick in a cinema nearby?
I also liked Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory talking about the new Goldfrapp album - they cited Abba's 'The Visitors' as an inluence, but I heard traces of Todd Rundgren's Utopia circa Set Me Free with the synth sounds.
Give Bob Shennan a moment and he'll sweep all this away for constant promotion of Pixie Lott and the other autotuned fembots. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I'm not too keen on The Chatty Northern Geezers in the Mid evening slot. But i think they'd be great on Drivetime |

The last few times I've tried to listen to Radcliffe & Maconie I have almost lost the will to live after about 8 minutes.
Each time I've heard a very forgettable track of music, followed by 5 minutes of even easier forgettable waffle from the pair of them.
They are so unprofessional at talking to each other on the radio. They've clearly thought of a subject to talk about at the start of the show but each time it's just waffle that doesn't stand up to any pub chat I ever have with me mates, really appalling, I have given up on these guys. _________________ -

John, I'm not going to demolish your argument point by point, I'm just going to say: You have no taste!
Seriously, R&M is the only show that I listen to regularly. I find them entertaining, informative and very very funny - most of their humour is self-deprecating and I love that. Bring back Thursdays! |

The music's good - it's the "different every time" that everyone craves.
I agree, the waffle isn't. Cut half of that and you'd have time for at least five more tracks of good music. _________________ Ron |

I don't get to listen that often, just not a good time, but when I do I really enjoy them and their music.

They always remind me of two sixth formers recording nonsense into their reel-to-reel. (In fact they remind me of Christmas 1965, staying with my cousin, four years my senior, and his best mate, who did just that and wouldn't let me join in, or even listen to some of the music when they got around to playing some) _________________ Ron |

I think that both together and separately they are among the most knowledgable and entertaining presenters on Radio2. |

I like them best on their own. When they are together they both seem to talk at the same time and over the top of each other. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

Eh? Nick, if you mean the music then I DO like some of the music on the show, but I don't get to hear it as I can't stand their blethering, really it is hesitant mumbling blethering.
The worst thing is they get to do it for six hours a week when informed talent with a 'broadcaster's voice' like Mark Lamarr gets relegated to the midnight slot and feels unwanted. _________________ -

John, they're my favourite presenters - but fair enough, I know you're not alone. I quite like the fact they're a bit niche. |

Niche is good. Niche helps to expose stuff we might otherwise not be exposed to. That's why we need Radcliffe & Mascarponi.
John Peel was niche in the early days of Radio One, yet he helped me to expand my horizons beyond the crap that was featured in early/mid 70s charts. |

Well, we all have different tastes, but I think they're the best thing on BBC Radio.
And anyone who thinks overwise is clearly bonkers. |

I love their banter and waffle, their sense of humour just appeals to me and they're so knowledgeable about music they're a pleasure to listen to. The music can be a bit hit and miss, but generally I find it more of a hit than a miss and it's nice to hear something different. |

I also like the banter and waffle, to be honest. It's such a counter to the crap that can be heard on R2 at other times - such as at weekday breakfast! Power to their elbow. |
