Nice to hear Ken play Jethro Tull's Ring out Solstice Bells this morning. Haven't heard it for years. |

.... as opposed to that awful "Wish I was at home this Christmas" song which I've now heard several times in the last few days, in addition to that equally awful "I believe in Father Christmas" by Greg Lake.
10/10 for originality, Radio 2.
I'm staying away from the shops for fear of hearing them even more.

'Hurts - All I want for Christmas Is New Years Day', apart from Annie Lennox new Christmas album - has been my favourite new festive music radio 2 have played this year. |

I never heard of them before since I heard there Christmas song. They would have had a number one years ago, but as the Charts are full of a lot of rubbish it's impossible.

Big up to Bob for including Fotheringay's Winter Winds and Tori Amos's Winter.
It was his show that also introduced me to Grandaddy's 'Alan Parsons In A Winter Wonderland' after Trigger Happy TV also used their 'He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's The Pilot'! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

Avid: Bob Harris also played the Fleet Foxes' White Winter Hymnal last night.
Colin: is Caroline No a Christmas song though? |

It is for me! I dislike the usual Christmas fodder - so it's really an antidote. |

more like it today
Caught a bit of Craig Charles on for SW
He played a Prince Xmas song i'd never heard before followed by James Brown Soul Christmas then what I'd say by Ray Charles. That is good radio even with christmas songs in the schedule _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

Yes, I like Craig Charles, and it's good to hear some rarities.
Until, that is, Simon Mayo at 5pm plays I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day!!! Oh well, it was good whilst it lasted. |

That's precisely why I'm now avoiding R2 and other stations for most of the time. I just can't bear the predictability of all. |

Schizoid, Colin B: James Warren (Stackridge/Korgis) does a version of Caroline, No on the 'Jim's Easy Listening Christmas Album'! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

One of the daytime producers should be really brave and play something from Sufjan Stevens' Christmas album - Bob has played tracks from it in previous years as well as this one. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Johnnie Walker's played Jethro Tull's Ring Out Solstice Bells too.
Vintage TV also ran 'This Is Jethro Tull' last night! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

It's worth listening to tonight's Bob Harris show. According to the playlist on his site, he's due to give the Grandaddy track another airing: http://www.bobharris.info/pages/playlist.asp?progcode=u26122010 _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
