I heard the end of his show yesterday and then he announced all the stuff with Take That was recorded, well how much of his show is ever live as is didn't sound any different to normal ?
How do they get the telephone callers during the recordings as they never ask anyone that I hear of to call in , I always thought the same with his quiz he no longers does (maybe that's why they don't do it anymore ? ) ? |

What I don't get is why it was trailed - by Wright himself - as a show "co-hosted by the Take That boys"??? I didn't hear any "co-hosting" going on as I battled with the driving rain on the M5 en route to Plymouth!
In fact, I think the show was as crap as it ever is. |

The good news is that Richard Allinson will be very much "live" between 2-5pm next week covering for Steve Wright.
Sit back and enjoy listening to a proper DJ in action. |

From what little I heard, one of them read out the travel news.. or weather.. or something. I suppose you could call that hosting?
Anyway, anything to do with Take That has me switching off... pity they weren't on next week with that graveyard jockey instead.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

After having seen Take That performing at Wembley Stadium last year I have developed a respect for their skill onstage - and for Gary Barlow's mature song-writing skills.
What gets my goat is the way that Nobbo Williams has worked his way back into the fold.
He's a bit like Chris Evans - he can't stand being out of the limelight and will capture public attention by any possible means despite being a complete berk. |

Oh I have respect for their talent but I find their songs, as with most other Radio 2 artistes these days are so bloody boring!
James Gray... there's another one! he can sing but it's hardly exciting stuff is it?
"The Flood, Take That" v "Tin Soldier, Small faces"...
anyway, is James Gray turning into a girl? _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

The parts with Take That were recorded in the morning. He did say " they were co hosting the show the day before" He didn't say " It would be pre-recorded during the day ". I bet there were crowds of people outside BH at 2pm |

Wright records EVERYTHING in advance, usually in the morning but sometimes the day before, and then just sits in the studio mixing everything together and adding his own live links.
One reason he keeps reading the news and traffic and weather out is to add to the illusion of it all being live, but if you do text or e-mail the show it's more likely to be read out next day.
On some occasions, he's not even there at all. Sally once did a traffic bulletin and let slip it was just her in the studio. |

I had not realised quite so much of Steve Wright's Show isn't live.
Still I make a point of not tuning into his show if I can help it.
There are much better alternative listening experiences available. |

He's actually sitting in a cafe in Oxford street from 2-5pm.
I can remember reading on another forum many years ago, someone saw him once walking down Oxford street whilst the show was running at Radio 1. |

I agree. Much of R2's daytime output is now pitiful when compared to what's out there in the real world. |

At least one exception to the rule - earlier this year I was with friends who texted him. Half an hour later he read it out - he got most of it wrong, but he did read it out almost immediately!
Actually, hearing some of Simon Mayo's live telephone "conversations" (for want of a better word) with the public is argument enough to ensure that they're pre-recorded. _________________ Ron |

Yeah, I once said on here that if there was a webcam all you'd see is a fat bloke eating crisps on his own and one of his former production team has since told me that's spot-on. |

Just listening to the end of the 9am news on Radio 2 on Sunday. Charles Nove said " five past 8 ' and Steve voice said ' I beg your pardon' Then Charles corrected himself. Just wondering if that was added as an effect to make us think Sunday Love Songs is live? |
