Of course we also have the opposite problem of the whipping system where our elected representatives simply become voting fodder for whichever minority Government happens to be in power at any given time and that's true of opposition members as well

I would much prefer a system where MPs actually stood up for what their constituents really want

I normally cringe when I hear the phrase 'in America they...' coming from the mouths of newscasters & other commentators but one thing I'd like to see imported from over there is their limit of two terms of office for their president. That rule would, of course apply to the prime minister over here. What chance of that ever happening?!

I can't get that worked up about it that it justifies the expense of a referendum. The system as it is seems ok to me adjusting by an hour for summer and winter time. At the end of the day you have to live with nature there is no escaping it.

If up North want to do something different locally then fine let them do it, or anywhere else for that matter, or use flexi working times more to help with this. I'm sure we could cope with Scotland and very North England being an hour different, plenty of other countries have varying time zones. Not really a big deal. Let it be decided at local level even at County level can't see a problem with it.

Or alternatively if say Cornwall because of their tourism want to have more daylight hours in the evening then fine do it, but really it comes down to flexible working hours for the employees more than anything else. Because as I've already said, it gets light and dark at x and y whatever the time on the clock says Very Happy
