Because of the Olivier Awards tonight. If anyone is interested!
1300 - EP one hour only.
1400 - Johnnie Walker SOT70s
1600 - Paul O'Grady
1730 - 2130 Olivier Awards
Sunday Half Hour follows and back to normal schedule at 2200 with Claire Teal.
I'd rather have the usual programmes....................

To be honest so would I Helen...and I won't be tuning in...
I'm sorry to lose Russell Davies' show...if these awards are so important I'm surprised that they are not being shown somewhere on tv...and surely all we are mainly going to hear(unless we get lots of interviews backstage)is speeches saying thank you.
I know Radio 2 has it's nod to the Arts on Fridays at 10pm but isn't this more Radio 3/Radio 4's scene?
All that matters is who gets what and that could be shown on the website or mentioned in the news.
I'm tempted to say if radio is having to make cuts and some music events have been dropped, why not do like wise with this...there are so many awards events now I don't bother with any of them these days...not even the Oscars but that's just me I guess. |

I know what you mean! I heard Paul and left it on, thinking it might not be that bad afterall. Then Jody came on, and I decided that I'd had enough. _________________ Fred Hart

And no one was saying anything worth hearing either when they did talk to her
Fred you are probably too young to of heard of her but there used to be a singer/performer(they did a documentary about her on BBC4 last week)she was called Tessie O'Shea...she was as over the top as Jody, probably a very nice person but never stops...talking ten to the dozen etc... |

I think it was shown on BBC 301 (Freeview) John. I also switched off the radio presentation - Jodi whateverhernameis is far too gushing and none of the people she "interviewed" had much to say although to be fair I'm sure they had other things on their minds. It seemed that most of them didn't know who she was anyway. |

I heard it was available on any tv service that had access to the red Button facility(so I assume that was Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin)
I don't think it was promoted much on tv so unless you were listening on Radio 2 and heard it was available via the red button few would be watching and once you were told that it was unless you were in a car or somewhere where you could only listen via the radio, most probably switched to the tv coverage therefore Radio 2 probably lost more listeners.
If it was so important as an awards event why wasn't it being shown without having to use the red button?
I suspect quite a few were asking who Jodie was
As for who won awards I haven't seen or heard much about it except on Radio 2 news summaries...so no one else seems particularly interested or bothered. |
