But after so many websites/messageboards closing on the BBC website and this being blamed on cuts and having to reduce internet services(The last one to close was the Radio 2 board)after April 1st they have now announced the closure of the BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 7 messageboards but...they are leaving The Archers website/messageboard untouched.
Amazing! |

I think BBC message boards are a complete waste of money. |

For once Rachel we agree! The Points Of View message board is very left of centre, with the same posters always always bullying those whose opinion may differ for their own. |

I think a large number of messageboards are a waste of time and money, actually, and I think the BBC made the right decision in dumping the bulk of theirs when they did. In fact, the whole concept of the "messageboard" is a bit late-90s anyhow. The web has moved on. |

It's pointless having 'messageboards' if they are moderated in a grossly unfair and arbitrary manner as was the case with that for Radio 2 and probably others
So whilst they could have had the capacity to provide useful feedback for programme planners it simply did not work out that way so ultimately they turned out to be both a waste of time and money _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I for one am delighted with this as I frequent The Archers MB. As well as discussing the programme itself it has several sections devoted to any other subjects under the sun as well as games. I have asked for and received much useful advice and there are some extremely witty posters who make me laugh out loud.
Generally speaking, it is a friendly place to be and any disagreements are more than likely polite. |

I will agree whole heartedly about the bullying, I witnessed a first time young poster get a right verbal kicking for not spelling everything correctly when all she wanted to do was comment on her fav Eastenders character, I know not to everyones taste but to be shot down over spelling and grammar.
I can't agree about it being left of centre I find it very much the other way. _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

But it is surely only a matter of time; they are just steeling themselves for the inevitable letters of bile to the Telegraph.
Actually, what with the Budget, Libya, Japan, Elizabeth Taylor and a terrorist explosion in Tel Aviv occupying the media's attention, today would have been an excellent day to break the news.

It's no different to any other message board. In fact it's more cliquey than most, is not immune to the odd periodic dust-up, and suffers the same inconsistent moderation that blighted other BBC boards. The same can be said for the Points of View board.
It's high time that the BBC shut them all - there are plenty of private and commercial message boards which provide the same facility. _________________ Ron |
