What do you think about music playing in restaurants?
Not many feature live music round here (Cov & Warks & WM land). I know the chap who plays piano at the Birmingham Museum restaurant, there's also a pianist resident at the classy cocktail Bar Epenary at Birmingham Mailbox (near Beeb studios), but I can't think of anywhere else that features live music around here.
Ever been to a Frankie & Benny's ? (New York Italian style diner) The decor is very 'Happy Days' with photos of customers to Frank & Benny's original restaurant in NYC. I like the recorded music played there, mainly 1950's with rock'n'roll, Nat King Cole, Sinatra, sometimes some 1960's. It's like Radio 2 on a Saturday morning or Sunday! They sell CD's of their playlists.
Ever been to a Nando's ? (Portuguese style chicken). A mix of Latin and reggae music, gets you in a holiday mood The reggae is cover artists, never heard anything Marley or Toots, but it's pleasant enough Latin music to me, going well with the Algarve decor and spicy Peri~Peri menu, but likely not Portuguese music.
I think music adds to the enjoyment.

As long as it is not too loud i don't mind what they play.Went to one place that played a full Michael Buble CD.
Helped the meal to go down very nicely _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

My local Wetherspoons has a "Steak & Swing Night" where the food is good and cheap and a lad sings Sinatra-style swing music very well indeed. It's a good time out, although the music is a bit too bass-y to actually eat easily! |

Hi Ian...i thought Weatherspoons didn't play music.
I'm sure i read that they don't play any music to attract people who want to sit and chat without resorting to shouting.
There again i could be wrong _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

Ah yes, if only ours was like that! We have a sort-of halfway house: up until 6pm it's a Wetherspoons, and then it becomes a Lloyds No 1 Bar which means they play music. I wrote to Head Office saying that was exactly what Chorley didn't need, but what do I know...? I only live here! |

Oh yes. It's not too bad actually. Some presenters are very amateurish, but there's quite a diverse playlist. It's supposedly a "community station" but I've not really got that impression.
They promote the Film Society I run (which is nice) but so do Radio Lancashire - I was on Ted Robbins' show yesterday! |

Is it justifiable to walk out of a restaurant without paying if Katie Melua's 7,682 trillion bicycles in Beijing is played...?? _________________ Standing on Ray Moore's shoulders |
