I 'de-activated' my Facebook account some time ago as I can't see the point of it. The only reason I didn't 'delete' was that I use Spotify and recently they made it a condition that you had a Facebook page. Whilst I've used the free version almost since it came out I didn't think I'd have a problem but just in case I left it.
I read last week somewhere that Facebook is trying to inflict a new email address on every member.........
Talking about trojan horses, the John Lewis website had one on it a week or so ago! My antivirus stopped me accessing the page and I phoned J Lewis to ask what was happening as I was trying to research laptops on their site. All they said was that 'they were aware of it' and that it was something to do with the Nat West problem................... I found that strange but it lasted a few hours before it was okay to access.

There are ways around it, though. |

More OTT scaremongering there (not from you I hasten to add!) What has actually happened is that you are assigned a facebook email address which you can receive messages on through Facebook. If you prefer to have your normal email address shown it is still there - you can hide both, either or neither depending on what you prefer and all it takes is the click of a button. |
