Totally agree, Ron!
The Dad's Army series and original cast remain welded together for ever more and any attempt at reincarnation would fail unless it was going to be a new set of characters in a different location.
I have mixed feelings about Rodney joining New Tricks. Surely he is way too young? Brian Lane is the character I would miss the most. He is a great creation brought to life by a great actor. |

There's no reason at all why Nicholas Lyndhurst shouldn't join New Tricks. He has proved that he play other parts besides 'Rodney' (Goodnight Sweetheart; Rock & Chips or whatever that prequel to Only Fools & Horses was called) but, of course, it would have to have a new start, given that all the main characters, bar Dennis Waterman, will have left the cast. I think to carry on as before would be a mistake. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I don't know who thought of remaking Dad's Army but all i can say is "Stupid Boy"
Nicholas Lyndhurst joining New Tricks? I hadn't heard that. Hmmm _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

Nicholas Lyndhurst may be OK for New Tricks but it will look like a completely different program with Brian & Sandra gone.
I don't mind the new character, Steve but I think in general New Tricks has lost it's spark anyway.
As for a lady Captain Mainwaring, too stupid for words. |
