Sara Cox is covering for Vanessa half term week 18th Feb with Claudia Winkleman covering for Ken Bruce that week. Where has Zoe Ball gone from the cover line up? We know Mr Shennan likes his female broadcasters dominating the Radio 2 airwaves. |

Hopefully Ball has been elbowed though Winkleman is no better. Sara Cox was fine when she covered for Ken over Christmas but I suppose that's a bit too obvious for the Shennanspawn.
Oh well, back to internet radio _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I know I should dislike her but I love Claudia - she's adorable. Glad to have her back.
Regarding Zoe - perhaps she's busy, or could be that (unlike Sara and Claudia) is not on a BBC contract so would cost more. |

Strangely I like Claudia doing Ken's show as well, even though I didn't think I would!

No current female presenter is as bad as Zoe Ball but for me Sara is streets ahead of the competition - well with the exception of Lynn Parsons who is presently otherwise occupied _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Our accord on beer is matched only by our accord on Ken's replacement _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

You haven't heard me, Rudds. I'm rubbish, so bad in fact that I rarely speak, I just play music |

That can be good though Rach - at the end of the day what we music buffs really want is maximum music and less waffle
I have to admit that when I do live gigs I bang on far too much for my own liking but as I get paid for entertaining people and it seems to work and the audience seems to like it I'm reluctant to change a winning formula - what is it they say If it ain't broke don't fix it _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

What a shame that some, more recent Radio 2 controllers didn't follow that mantra! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Doh! Ten years ago R2 was a crumbling dinosaur. The current and former controllers have swept the dust of decay that was R2 into the 90s and just a little beyond. Some way to go yet but it's getting there. We shouldn't allow the decisions of our ancestors to govern the way we think today, most often they were wrong or made their choices out of neccesities that don't exist today. Think free be free. |

Totally agree No Ball or Winklemann (and others but that's for another thread) would suit me |

That must make me a dinosaur then. I used to listen to R2 a whole lot more ten years ago when we had proper radio presenters. Now we just have tedious celebs and telly rejects. Now all I listen to is Ken Bruce during the week and a bit of JV before he gets so excited I fear that there will be a puddle under the chair. Saturdays are SOTS and POTP and Sundays JW and the new MB show. Ten years ago R2 was all I listened too _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

I must be one as well Number six! 10 years ago Radio 2 was on all day long. My listening is about the same as yours, Ken Bruce, JV when his topics aren't ridiculous. Weekends get less and less almost by the week. All I can say is thank goodness for internet radio!

Then I must be one too! Ten years ago I would have had a radio in every room tuned in to Radio 2 all day long. There were so many good things on and I didn't want to miss them, but now (if I'm not at work) I only listen 'live' to SOTS, POTP and JW. I am listening to The People's Songs on 'listen again' though. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

That's pretty much how it is for us now. Maybe in ten years time when it will be all different to it is now, I won't like it or listen as much.
Continuous improvement is a matter of perception.
raaaaaarrrrrr... that's a dinosaur sound well it's the sound of a dinosaur that goes raaaarrrrrr, some of them made other sounds but raaaaaaaarrrrr is a representative sound and in truth I cannot do any others. |
