I reckon they should give the job to Silvio Berloscconi (sp)
1. He's at a loose end at the moment
2. He's expert on corruption
3. There's more than enough virgins to keep him busy _________________ I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. |

He's a 76 year old Argentinian, Pope Francis I.

The new pope lost a lung as a young man. And opposed gay marriage in Argentina and gay adoption as an older man. sounds fairly conservative. I wonder what he thinks about the Falklands? |

It's the same old story with the Roman Catholic Church - choosing a Pope who is well past his 'sell by'date and almost certainly lacking the energy to do what is needed in order to clean up the Church's dreadful current image
They should have gone for a younger man if for no other reason than to put in place a Pope who has at least more than a 50% chance of being still around in twenty years time
It always seems to me that long term thinking is way beyond the ability of most of these 'Men of God' and divine guidance seems very thin on the ground:roll: _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I too was expecting a younger man and thought it would be the Brazilian Cardinal, although I don't know what age he is.

It seems that the new pope "had a life" before entering the priesthood in his thirties. I like the sound of him and the way he has been living in a flat, cooking for himself etc.
I must say the Falklands sprang to mind as soon as I heard he was Cardinal of Buenos Aires! |

Yes, there does seem to be humility there in the way he lived his life in Buenos Aires ....can't be many Cardinals around the world who choose to go to work on public transport ....on the very short time we saw him when he came onto the balcony I have to say I quite liked the look of him ...
I hope the man from "the end of the world" is a good force for all the Catholics of the world. |

I'm just glad this is over (almost).
The news coverage has been relentless, and 99% devoid of any content. |
