...rather surprisingly I thought....(but what do I know )..in the global album chart with his album Merry Christmas,Baby...
Adele is 1st for the second year running with 21(not surprisingly I would have thought) outselling her nearest rival,Taylor Swift's Red, by some three million copies. ...that's a fair few.
There is some good news for the music industry in the same article.....
Overall music revenues were up 0.3% to $16.5bn (£10.9bn) - the first year of industry growth since 1999.
Paul Williams, the head of business analysis at Music Week, said the rise was "very significant".
"After many, many years of decline the graph is finally heading northwards again," he said.
"It underlines the efforts the music industry has been putting in and the results it's now getting in reinventing itself in the digital era."

That new record of his, that R2 is playing to death, is sheer torture.
I can't think of anyone, who went from being so good (first three or four solo albums, esp EPTAS, and A Nod's As Good As A Wink, with the Faces), so being so well..naff. I've never typed that word before, but it's the most suitable I can think of, without swearing. _________________ life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans |

I agree completely. Every Picture Tells A Story is a classic album from 1971. Not a bad track on it, though five of the eight songs are covers. Good covers.
By contrast, since the late 80s he's been indescribably naff, more like a Spitting Image parody of himself, doing appalling cover versions of what were once great songs. He should have retired gracefully 25 years ago. |

Sadly he's not the only one churning out old classics, sadly it must be a good earner |
