I'm listening to this at the moment. It's a most enjoyable programme about Benny Green presented by his son Leo, who is doing a great job.
There have been many excerpts from the old Sunday afternoon programmes and Leo was brought up surrounded by the music Benny loved.
Leo is active in the music business as a saxophone player, a promoter and as a presenter on various programmes on Smooth Radio, Jazz FM etc. I think Radio 2 should pick him up if at all possible. He even sounds like his dad! |

I heard this too. Leo's shows on Jazz FM (they ended some time last year) were very much like his Dad's in terms of the music played. I kept a few of them.

Managed to catch the first one, before it expired, then part two last night. Much enjoyed, especially last week's.
I've spent a fair amount of time these past couple of days, looking at Andy's blog as well. What a treasure trove of radio history you've chronicled there! I'll be dipping into that a fair bit. I've only skimmed it so far, from the start, up until August 2011..and yet to click on the audio links. Fantastic!

Thanks for the comments about the blog.
Listened to part 2 of Green on Green today. Enjoyed it, though I'd thought Leo might stay 'in role' for most of the show.
What Radio 2 actually put out the week after Benny's death in 1998 was this tribute with Sheridan Morley. Uploaded here:
