I know I shouldn't be listening to him and I'm not sure why the radio is switched to his show, but listening to him discussing the scandal of the closure of the BAe Systems yard at Portsmouth and he's pronouncing "Pompey" as "Pompeii".
OK, I'll switch to something else because it's too painful to endure this nonsense.
After one of my favourite Beach Boys songs, that is. |

Getting Pompei and Pompey mixed up is bad, but it's not as embarrassing as the BBC's political editor Nick Robinson saying last night on the News that Portsmouth is in South WEST England. I suppose he was getting mixed up with Plymouth. |

These stupid mistakes are really annoying. In the aftermath of the gales a reporter was standing by a fallen tree saying something like "This ash tree succumbed to the high winds last night" when it was clearly a sycamore whose leaves are entirely different. |

Well if they can get such a basic thing wrong just think how many other things they might get wrong - I'm talking far more serious things which can destroy peoples lives _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I have often shared Terry Wogan's humourous if not bemused thoughts on TV news reporters who, when doing a "piece to camera" from the scene of a flood, have to be pictured wearing wellies standing in the flood waters! |

Or standing right next to a busy road. I often genuinely worry they'll get hit by a car whilst broadcasting. |
