I can't understand why Gordon Brothers Europe thought that Blockbusters could be turned into a viable concern, given the market shift to downloadable media. Apparently they were unable to agree a licensing deal with the parent company in the USA. |

Funnily enough, I went into my local Blockbuster for the first time in months recently and was quite impressed. Good range of stuff, friendly staff - and it was packed! I don't think the writing's quite on the wall but they do need to update the way they present themselves. |

Blockbuster is reportedly planning to close all of its 264 UK retail outlets.
The company entered administration for a second time in October 2013, and 72 stores have already been earmarked for closure.
Blockbuster UK operations manager Dave Potter informed store managers of the news on Wednesday morning (November 20), according to MCV.
An insider at one shop has claimed that all the company's retail outlets could be closed before Christmas, although Blockbuster and administrators Moorfields are yet to issue comment.
Having originally said that it was unable to honour Xbox One and PS4 pre-orders, Blockbuster recently gave customers the chance to cancel or transfer orders elsewhere.
Around 2,000 people are employed by Blockbuster in the UK. |
