Thanks SantaFe, I hadn't realised the time!
We applied for tickets but weren't lucky.

I had my wife set an alarm on her phone so I wouldn't forget!
Not too bad so far if a little wobbly in the voice.
I have my Roberts recording radio on the go next to me... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I was just looking on Ebay for the Band on the Run cd and found a 25th Anniversary 2 disc set for £6 so I'm going to have it...
Was it really 6 years ago we listened to JW that night??? it's about time he did another! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I wonder if they'll do anything for the 50th anniversary next year? Would be great if there was.

What I don't understand is that I'm currently watching a programme about Cilla Black's 50 years in show business
Surely The Beatles predated her so their anniversary must have already happened - presumably unnoticed _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I can't be certain but I'm sure there was an awful lot of Beatle programmes on the box a couple of years ago to celebrate that Ruddles... they are currently taking up about a third of my recorder hard drive.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Their 50th anniversary at the Cavern was I think in 2011?
It's 50 years on 23rd Nov since I saw them live at City Hall Newcastle (saw them again 2 years later). I really can remember it like it was yesterday.

Well, I thought it was a really good hour's entertainment.. good on ya' Paul pity it couldn't have lasted the two hours of the show? still, it's ok listening to people remembering their encounters with the man. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

Couldn't believe it! I think I only remember the date because of JFK.
I remember I'd got 'With The Beatles' the day before so spent the whole day wearing it out on the record player! Can remember Paul singing All My Loving.

I'd love to have been able to see the Beatles.. they did play in Great Yarmouth and ate at a local restaurant not far from where I lived at the time but I was too young (just) to go to the theatre then...
It's funny to think we could wear out a LP record but it happened! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I was just 12 and my Dad got just one ticket so I went on my own, unthinkable today! I knew the City Hall though as my school used to put concerts on there every year and we all had to go so I was unfazed by the whole thing!

I've saved it for later listening on a USB thumb drive and only managed to dip in and out when checking that it had captured the broadcast, but it does sound to me like Macca's merely trotting out the same old standards (plus a few new numbers that - let's be honest - aren't as good) whereas he has such a good back-catalogue of songs that are less popular but less well known.
And, as I assumed, he ended on a rather strained "Hey Jude" again..........
Still, I'll stick it onto my iPhone for listening in the car en route to Norfolk on Friday! |

You're right Colin, he did perform Hey Jude and I too was cringing at the thought but it wasn't bad at all, no doubt the backing singers were faded up as necessary on the high notes.
I wish the concert could have been longer and yes, I'd like more of the older, more obscure tracks covered. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

His voice has deteriorated somewhat since I saw him live in 2009, to be expected though I suppose, he's over 70 now isn't he? |

The last time I saw him live was at Wembley Arena in the early 90s. Linda was in the line-up then. It was a good gig, but I've had the idea that we were going to see "Paul McCartney the former Beatle" even though he's achieved so much with Wings, etc. |

Have just caught up with this and within seconds of the first chords of Eight Days A Week being played I had goosebumps
The voice isn't what it was (c'mon the lad's 71!) but I'd wait all day just to hear Paul recite the phone book...what an absolute he is.
Loved, like Helen, hearing Things We Said Today.
Lovely dedication song to Nancy.
His new single is my current earworm ...very catchy!
He actually spoke to me (yes! me! ) through the medium of radio when he was on Chris Evan's teatime programme a few years ago ...Chris only read one email out and it was MINE!! and Paul answered it by talking straight to me.
Did anyone else play Queenie Eye (or in our version Queenie...O) when they were young? ....I did.
He was in concert on 6 Music earlier (Wednesday) in the day and it was on the Red Button.
Jo Whiley said this will be on the Red Button too...didn't say when but I'm sure it'll be well advertised

He usually has quite a good mix of Beatles, Wings & solo stuff in his set list. |

Just a heads up as this is on BBC 4 tonight at 9pm, followed by an older concert.

Finally got round to watching it last night and it was good to watch Paul 50 years since I saw him live with the rest of the lads.

The BBC certainly keep flogging his shows, probably the same songs he did 50 years ago |

That's good
Everytime I see him (on the TV not live) he's always playing old Beatles stuff. maybe only 40 to 45 years old. |
