I'll make no apology for cutting and pasting from elsewhere but in case anyone is interested here is a local radio schedule that could be worth a listen to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul Rowley has produced a documentary for BBC local radio, Pirates at 50, looking at the period 1964-68 with some new interviews, schedule is:
Thursday April 17
BBC Radio Lincolnshire - 1200

Good Friday April 18:
BBC Radio Suffolk - 1205
BBC Radio Cornwall - 1300
BBC Radio Gloucestershire - 1800
BBC Radio Shropshire - 1800
BBC Radio Wiltshire - 1800

Easter Monday April 21
BBC Radio Essex - 1800
BBC Radio Norfolk - 1800
BBC Radio Sussex - 1800
BBC Radio Surrey - 1800
BBC Radio Lancashire - 1800
BBC Radio Jersey - 1805

Others say they plan to use it on later Bank Holidays

The documentary is the final part of BBC Radio Norfolk's pirate radio day on Easter Monday schedule for which is
7 to 9 Ray Clark.
9 to 11 Andy Archer.
11 to 1300hrs Tom Edwards
1300 to 1600hrs Keith Skues.
1600 to 1800hrs Colin Berry.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope there is something you can tune in to!

H

Cheers Ian. Only just spotted this.

You can still hear what's been on earlier, too.

Hope everyone's listening to Johnnie. Great to hear him playing Gordon Haskell How Wonderful You Are. Great memories of him on Drivetime! Didn't realise that Tiggy had been Gordon's girl friend........

On another note it's hard to believe it was 15 years ago that we were listening to Pirate Essex with Johnnie live. Think I managed to get a request for us on one of Johnnie's shows. From memory Raver, Becky and Santa Fe Fan were among us and Angela too I think.

15 years! Blimey H...I've been blessed with five grandchildren since then!

I've got Johnnie on, of course. Didn't know about Gordon Haskell, either.

I forgot Santa was listening in that day and wasn't certain if Angela was or not. I should have known, given her Robbie Dale history.

15 years,Helen!! - how can that be!!! It really is true that the time goes more quickly as you get older...

Listening to Johnnie is bringing back glorious memories of times back then listening to Caroline. Cool

Such wonderful, wonderful times and didn't the sun always shine back then - that's my memory anyway. Very Happy

When Johnnie mentioned Gordon I looked him up on Wiki only to find he died in 2020. Sad

Yes the sun always did seem to shine Becky!

Was reliving my summer of '67 when Johnnie played the Beatles. It was a busy one for me, GCE's (O levels) a month long trip to Austria (an exchange) followed by numerous trips to the coast on the train with picnics for the day with school friends to Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and Cullercoats! San Francisco brought back memories of those days too. Smile

Although I'm not one to wallow, Roger's playing of A Day In The Life, Big Lil and then Caroline around three o'clock did give me a little shiver, because I was listening at the time and Radio London's final hour and closedown did feel like the slamming shut of a door. The stations that continued were never the same.

I managed to listen to most of Johnnie, the Fab 40, Roger Day and a little of DLT reminiscing. The station's FB pages are awash with people asking for him to be recruited permanently, but I think it's all better left the way it is. The occasional special treat is all the more enjoyable for being just that.

I'd agree Ron, but if they ever end SOTS70s on R2 I think Johnnie would be great on Boom.

It is a shock to me to think that it was 15 years ago and I did have a request played by Johnnie Walker. Thank you Helen and Raver for thinking of me.

I thought the Boom Pirate radio day was outstanding, I listened to it all. It was good to learn some new things from the Keith Skues programme and all in all it was a day to treasure.

I'm glad you listened to it all, Angela. So did I. Johnnie, Roger Day and Keith Skues being the stand outs for me, as they were more pirate themed.

What I heard of the Absolute Radio programmes were pretty good as well and good ol' Andy has recorded them all for posterity.
