This morning, I was sat on the bottom step of our stairs, waiting to give hubby his , see you later kiss, and the dog came and sat at my feet. As usual I looked at the dog and said , have You got a kiss for your mummy? Normally when I ask, the dog just bumps my nose with his nose but this morning he managed, as quick as lightening, to get his tongue in my mouth. I felt it right at the back of my throat. I ran up the stairs and glugged on the Dettol bottle. Don't ever do that. Neat Dettol is not good for you. My mouth may be doggy germ free but it's also skin free and tastebud free, and my voice sounds like a small motorbike.

It turns out that I should have washed out the dog's mouth with dettol, he was ill last night, sick all over the utility room. He eats apples that fall from the tree in our garden, well that's what I'm blaming, surely kissing me wouldn't make him sick.

You should write to him!

I once actually contracted cat flu from one of my cats but I wasn't kissing her at any stage - my GP told me although rare it can happen Shocked

Don't know whether the same applies with dogs Confused

How could you not want a kiss from him? link at top. he's an ex sniffer dog you know. Jezza was talking about them today, and yes you can retrain them.

Something less caustic than neat dettol would have been better , Tiny but dettol it was: my voice has recovered today.

Very cute face and I have known some lovely dogs in my time but I know where their tongues and noses go when we're not looking ... and even when we ARE looking Wink.

Glad your voice is recovering - I can imagine your panic!

Here is a little video of Hooby and me playing in the garden.

Hubby reckons dog germs don't affect us humans but I think germs are germs, they don't care what you are, dog or human.....

Very Happy

I'm inclined to agree with you, Rach.
I always make sure I wash my hands after touching b-i-l's border terrier.

Hooby looks very handsome, and he's obviously a happy dog.
How long do you have to spend grooming him to keep his fur looking so good?

Thanks, he seems very happy with us , Ron, we've had him very nearly two years now. He doesn't really have a lot of grooming, he's very good at keeping himself clean and shiny. He gets a good brushing once a week but except at his shedding time(Sept/Oct), it's mostly not required. He gets a hose down , if he gets muddy out in the fields and he gets a proper shower and shampoo about once a month.

Oh I'm not kissing him in the video, I'm blowing up his nose, cos that gets him to leave loose of his ball thing. I read that in a Barbara Woodhouse book. It works.

Mrs W bought one of those Glade air fresheners, the battery powered ones that detect movement and do a little spray of fragrance. The first use instructions were just pictorial, put the cartridge in, pull out the tab to connect the batteries which were supplied.
Did that, then I thought, is there a hole on top of the cartridge so I turned it over to have a look and it sprayed right into my mouth Rolling Eyes
